Exhaust option
Has anyone done a muffler delete and a vibrant ultraquiet resonator on their n52 328i?
Looking for a nice tone with some volume. Not sure if I want to delete my cats yet. |

Try 135i muffler with or without resonator delete. Sounds like PE. If you search on youtube "135 muffler on 128i" theres a clip.

or even 330 muffler has a valve. direct fit. Source a vacuum pump.
I saw them time to times on market, around 50-100$. I dont know how they sound, but I was tempted to try. I simply use those generic valved muffler with pneumatic actuator. Wanted a 3''. |

I also had the Performance Exhaust with stock cats and catless midpipes. That sounded awesome but was obnoxiously loud. |

The sound won't be relative to most setup since it's pretty unique . It's a E91 , N54 single turbo, pipe arrangement is 1-2-1 (downpipe, OEM dual mid pipe, 3'' single pipe). High flow cat > 18'' vibrant resonator > 3'' ebay specials pneumatic valved muffler. I like it a lot. Still in breaking in period, dont have ton of time to use this car for now, it's my 5th car as ''a project car'' |

While it's not on your original list, i'll plug the AA gen2 axle-back exhaust. Nice mellow sound, but still noticeable. Looks good. Don't have to scour junkyards or ebay to find.

Just for comparison sake: my secondaries were shot and I wanted to go straight-thru all the way back from the headers for performance BUT I wanted to keep the sound low (like, stock-low).
I used Supersprint midpipes to a 3" Y to a 3" Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonator where the factory res was, then 3" the rest of the way to a Tsudo muffler. Even with no secondaries the car's volume is dead-on to stock. I like quiet cars, but honestly even I would be happy with a little more volume when I get on it... I'm sure the muffler is doing most of the work, but clearly the Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonator is quieting things down a lot as well. If you're keeping the secondaries I'm pretty confident you could do just a Vibrant and delete the muffler entirely without being too loud.
