Car Waking Up Every 75 seconds (1min 15 Secs) And Drawing 6 Amps!
My 2008 325i E92 coupe has developed the dreaded discharge error ID CC-415 after a few hours of being locked and I am a bit stuck.
I have replaced the battery and the alternator so decided to do a current draw test after shut down and after 30 mins the car sits at around 230mA which I guess isn't bad for all the bits and bobs (but don't actually know what the figure should be). Anyway then I noticed a spike up to 6A for a few seconds returning down to 230mA and after watching the meter this happens every 75 seconds pretty much to the second. I disconnected the IBS and the discharge fault remained. The car is completely clear of faults (checked by the excellent guys at Autohaus in York) so I am flummoxed. I'm not sure if there is a tracker fitted yet so will have to check that. (Couldn't find one) Apart from going through each circuit pulling fuses and waiting for a few hours each time does this ring any bells for anyone? (Fuses pulled below) I also get the engine start button lighting up for a few seconds when the current draw kicks in. Carried out voltage tests and there is voltage across a range of fuses in the box. I have removed quite a few and the only difference is that the cycle seems to stay the same but the current draw changes. For example I removed the ECM fuse (4) and it still cycles but peaks at 1Amp. It seems to be that whenever it wakes up power is applied to the fuse box as a whole as if the car has been opened up. It doesn't seem to happen when the car is oncharge, fully charged or just after it has been charged. Does anyone know if anything cycles 75 seconds on the car as this seems to be the only constant. I also removed the relay 30g and whilst this changes things it doesn't solve the problem. I'm convinced it is to do with powering the whole of the fuse box in the glove compartment but am losing the will to live! I'm reposting this to see if it jogs anyone's memory. Fuses pulled so far: 4, 9, 11, 13, 14, 16, 17, 19, 36, 37, 38, 39, 41, 50, 54, 66, 81, 88 & Relay 30g. Any suggestions thankfully recieved and if anyone can solve it there will be multipple beers waiting for you in York! Thanks Guys. |

Would you believe it was the driver seat control module preventing the car from sleeping. It didn't show a current drop when the fuse was pulled as you had to wait for 15min to see if it went to sleep. Love this car btu it drives me nuts sometimes. All the other symptoms were red herrings, ah well £230 well spent to get it sorted.

Waking Up Issues
Jon E,
I ended up taking it to a BMW specialist to diagnose. I don't know how the hell you would test it apart from maybe pulling that fuse and wating for a while until the car dies down. To be honest I thought I had done that but I just got so lost trying to sort it out that it's quite possible that's one of the tests I failed to do. Strangely enough it didn't seem to show on INPA as a fault as I recall, God knows what the BMW chaps use at their garage but it took them a fair few hours hence the bloody bill! I picked up a second hand unit from ebay for about £22 banged it in and boom no more bloody current drain. I feel your pain mate it was hugely infuriating. All the best. Mike |

Just to test it on mine I reached under the driver's seat and unplugged all plugs from the seat module. My problem stayed. I finally did an analysis in ISTA and it seems to show the radio unit waking up. It identified it as RAD2/XXXXXX. I put the X's because the name was long and cryptic. I also pulled out my whole fuse box to make sure I didn't have the bad positive wire at the back behind it and took out my JBE and took it apart to look for any burn spots it all looks good. I'm putting it back together and I might just replace my JBE since I used one is cheap and easy. I fear the problem is probably going to be a bad CIC (radio) unit. Unfortunately those aren't as cheap and easy to buy and swap like any other module. Also I won't even know if that's the problem for sure until I buy a whole other one. But honestly bringing it to the BMW dealer they'll probably charge me several hundred dollars just to diagnose. And they're definitely not going to try to swap in another module apart they'll just tell me to replace a few of them. Not giving up yet.
