Manual Shifter rebuild from inside the cabin.

Has anyone replaced any of the shifter components from inside the cabin by just removing the knob leather boot, curious to know what all can be accomplished without getting underneath the vehicle and removing heatshields, drive shafts and whatever else it takes to make progresss replacing bushings etc. Recently had my clutch replaced and bought delrin bushings and polyeurothane carrier bushing and gave them to my mechanic to install and those things helped, now focusing on the upper half.

There is no 'upper half'... except perhaps the knob.

It's all in the tunnel.
