JL VX600/6i amp install
Just concluded my JL Vx600 amp install and have to say it is amazing- Creative Audio recently had a sale of the marine version and the normal version (MV vs VX) so I picked up the marine version for 700$!!
Only difference between the two versions? The marine version has RCA input as compared to bare wire. Made things a lot easier and made Technic’s XD600/6 hardness COMPLETELY PLUG AND PLAY! I did have to use butt connectors for the speaker input, but this went without issue. Following other guides of the JL XD600/6 install, I was able to replicate the same crossover points of the speakers as well as use the pre-outs of the amp to hook up a Crunch subwoofer amplifier and Kicker 12. Doing time alignment using measurements from my head to each speaker has done wonders- my E90 is now comparable to a C7 gen Audi A6 with the Bose pack, albeit with slightly less midbass and a lot less bass (Bose has actual woofers in each door.) I have done some DIY ear-tuning to the DSP, but will take it to an audio shop soon after installing some Alpine S2-S40cs in the front and rear. Also, Technic- your harness comes with a “center” channel wire. Is there a way to add this channel to a non-equipped vehicle? If so, please let me know. I can use the pre-out of the JL and a small, cheap single channel amplifier to solely drive the center speaker. |
