Chasing an oil leak on e70 x35d
All,
I am chasing what seams to be an oil leak on a e70 x5 x35d. I am seeing residue on the throttle body, VC near cylinder 1 and 6, and all the hoses under the intake manifold, and swirl flaps. Also noticed oil in the charge pipe. Would love some guidance on how to chase this down. I have worked on VWs and this is my 1st time getting this personal with a BMW. Here are some photos of what I am seeing |

I have dealt with this issue a few times. The leak usually originates from the swirl flaps in the intake manifold. Have a close look at the underside of the swirl flaps, you will most likely see oil all over the swirl flaps. I don't think you can buy the flaps by themselves so the only solution is to replace the complete intake manifold. By the way, you posted this in the E90 forum.
