Hey guys! I've got a 2010 320i E91, I've been having some a/c compressor noises for a while now, about 6 months, not really noticeably worse over time but it's definitely more noticeable now, I opened the hood and can hear the compressor making a brr brr brr noise or like a groaning? Specifically when the a/c button is on it'll be quieter when it's off, is it a bad compressor or low freon? Help will be appreciated!

My car has 186k miles and was making similar noises, easily quieted by pressing the A/C button. I had the system purged, they only found 4 oz left, and I did a recharge. The noise was almost gone initially, but has returned, albeit much quieter than before. I am thinking it may need a new compressor at some point, but it blows very cold air now and only barely noticeable noise when running.
