New tires TMPS reset never finishes
Hi folks,
2011 E91 iDrive. I got 2 tires replaced a few days ago. TPMS worked fine going into the tire shop. Leaving the tire shop the TPMS light was on so I hit Reset. The TPMS Reset is stuck in an infinite reset mode for days. Indicates that it is resetting but it never finishes. After driving the car for a couple of days I took the car back to the tire shop. The tire shop now says that the "sensor is bad or the battery is low." They claim to not touch the TPMS sensors but it "coincidentally" stopped working when the new tires were installed. I don't believe in coincidences. They offered to fix it if I paid them more money. Not. I have an Autophix 7910 scanner that has BMW specific functions. There are no fault codes for the RDC Tyre Pressure Control. It doesn't seem to be reading the sensor datastreams while the TPMS Reset is underway. For example, it shows the remaining battery life for all 4 sensors to be zero. 1) Is there some other trick to get the TPMS to finish the reset? 2) Is it realistic that 1 sensor could die during a tire installation and cause the never ending reset? Thanks in advance! |
