N55 e92 boost issues
Hi guys,
2011 335i e92 N55. I'm trying to decipher my logs to determine why my car isn't making as much power as it should, but I'm quite new to this and not as mechanically inclined as a lot of you people on this forum. Current mods are: - MTC motorsport charge pipe - VRSF 5" FMIC - VRSF catted downpipe - VRSF TIC charge pipe From what I'm seeing, the car struggles to reach the boost target, and when it does reach whatever peak boost, it immediately starts falling off at around 3-3500rpm which doesn't seem right. This log was at MHD stage 1 (v1.84). Please note that for this log, the car ONLY had the MTC charge pipe, and VRSF catted downpipe installed. https://datazap.me/u/dpanon/v184-stg...og=0&data=3-11 This log was at MHD stage 2+ (v1.6). From this moment, all the mods listed earlier were installed. https://datazap.me/u/dpanon/v16-stg2...og=0&data=3-11 This log was at MHD stage 2+ (v1.84). https://datazap.me/u/dpanon/v184-stg...og=0&data=3-11 What worries me with these stage 2+ logs is the amount of timing corrections present, especially on the v1.84 map. Is this something to be concerned about? Spark plugs were also changed around 8k miles ago. The stage 1 map was set to 98ron, and both the stage 2+ maps are for 95 ron fuel. I only put UK shell v-power in this car, which is supposed to be 99ron. Is this likely to just be a boost leak? Or anything? Any advice or pointing towards the right direction will be appreciated as I do worry for the car. Thanks |

I'm not sure I can really add anything with my level of experience, but I can only add on the issues I have had with my car.
My car had timing corrections with the 1.84 maps so runs the 1.60 maps where it holds 15 psi boost on stage 1+. My car also had an air leak before and after the turbo. It might be worth mapping for the fuel you are running on the more aggressive maps and seeing if that makes any difference? Although, I am not sure fuel is the issue. |

Since the first post I've fitted an uprated diverter valve after being told that could be the issue, however of course the issue still remains.
Smoke testing has been done, no visible leaks anywhere. I do now see the following codes popping up (although no check engine light): 2775 - Air volume, plausibility: Air volume too low. 29D0 - Intake air temperature sensor, electrical: Short circuit to B+. 290A - Intake air temperature sensor: Multiple fault. (shadow code) Does this mean I should be replacing this intake air temperature sensor? Or maybe it needs to be cleaned? To my limited knowledge this is part of the MAF sensor, right? Would this sensor even be affecting boost levels? Or maybe I'm way off, someone please give me some direction Thanks. |

Also, try the 95RON/91OCT maps and let's see then the corrections. You might also have throttle closures due to the corrections but you haven't logged the throttle in your logs. It might be a good idea to add them also. They are called throttle pos req* and throttle position* |
