Swap CIC for CIC just for testing, loss of nav???
I have a 2008 E93 that I did a CCC to CIC swap and added combox a few years ago. Lately I have an issue with my car waking from sleep a LOT and ISTA says the RAD2/xxxx is what is waking up. I ALSO have another 2010 E93 that has it's original CIC unit working fine. My question is this.....
I want to swap the CIC from my 2010 to my 2008 for a few days to see if the waking from sleep problem goes away. So I will have to do some coding so the CIC works in my car. BUT will it ruin the nav feature so that when I put it back into the original 2010 car it stays greyed out? I know the nav won't work while I have it in my 2008 car for several days of testing and I don't care, the nav in my swapped CIC (from a newer car) never worked without an emulator. So my only concern is if after a week of testing to find out if my CIC unit is the cause of the waking from sleep and battery drain. Will the navigation feature come back when the CIC is put back into the original car and the correct VIN is written back to it? If it were a cheaper "module" I would just buy one off e-bay but buying a whole CIC system for testing is not worth it. Yes, I know I could pull fuses but I have been past that and eliminating a whole system doesn't prove the system was bad. I need to see that with a known GOOD CIC the JBE, amp or some other module doesn't wake the car up. So far I have swapped the amp and the problem did come back. This is hard to pin down because sometimes the car goes days without a hiccup and sometimes it dies the next morning. Sometimes the clock needs to be reset but the car starts, sometimes the car doesn't start 3 days in a row without a quick jump, it varies. But Energy Diagnostics in ISTA+ showed the JBE waking and the "RAD2/XXX.." walking the car 38 times in one night. If the problem is gone with a different CIC then I KNOW that is the issue. If not maybe there is a reason the radio is asked to wake up often. I don't "see" the radio light up or anything odd, But I can hear the fuel pump kick on and see the start light come back on, then off then on again, etc. The only "stay on" type of thing I have even seen the radio/CIC do is if I am on a phone call and shut the car off, I have to manually turn the BT on my phone off or sit in the car until my call is finished. Otherwise the phone stays connected and my call stays with the car. I would assume that is a normal feature to not drop a call when you get somewhere. Thanks. I actually did get a new used one (just the bottom half)., and the power drain is fixed. I coded it for my Logic7 but honestly have never figured out how to activate navigation. It seems like I have to update the radio, then get some codes, then modify a file etc. I have not taken the time to dive in and figure all that out. The main thing i really want is back up camera. I installed one in my trunk handle a couple of years ago and even have it wired all the way to the radio, but cannot find a ay to make the radio unit try to use it. I think last year when I was looking into it I needed to add the whole PDC system etc. The ONLY reason I don't have an Android screen unit is I love the BMW Logic7 audio. I just can't see plugging into my aux port for crappy sound.
