Yeah......so over the last two months of waiting for the RB GF high flows to be ready to ship.....I may have been spending a few minutes, or hours, every day looking at cars. Which is because cars and car parts is the only thing the FB Marketplace algorithm knows to show me these days.
As I was about to drop $5-6k on the 335is in the next round of upgrades - turbo kit, more cooling upgrades, and all the bits and bobs along the way, I really wanted to make sure that when all that was done I wasn't going to still be interested in another platform. As I am in a different place than when I got into N54 platforms back in 2017. Also, the platforms I was looking at were actually in a more affordable range than back in 2019. I really wanted a DCT OG M2 as they are in the $30k's now. BUT I knew that would only send me down the path of doing a full N55 build. Which would basically be every single thing I did to the N54...again. I don't want another project. The M2 Comp isn't worth the $55k price to me as essentially you are paying $20k for the S55 upgrade. I thought about the B58TU Supra in the A91 but I don't want the 8sp automatic, as it's not a DCT, and at the end of the day it's not an M car. It doesn't have M level suspension and handling. It is a Supra.... but being a BMW guy now I'd have to make those upgrades to get it to that spec. That being said, the real performance spec upgrades for the A90/91 are $$$$ right now due to demand. So I started looking into the F82 M4 when I saw they were also in the $30k range. You get the S55, the DCT, the whole M suite of purpose driven engineering, and it weighs the same as my 335is. It's actually not as "bigger" as it seems. It's only 2" longer and then 4" wider, which is a pro of course. I was worried it was just a bigger and heavier platform. It is not. Plus, I love the way the car looks and the color I got surprisingly really sets this car apart for me. I wanted a spec that didn't have all the cameras, sensors, lane assist, and the other things I don't want in a performance car. Stuff that would eventually just be codes and errors on the dash. No Dynamic suspension. When I put coil overs on the car I want the full manual control of the dampers and not just the few settings you can setup with the EDC the Dynamic M Chassis had in place. Plus, the compatible coil overs for that system come in at $1k more than their non-EDC counterparts. I wanted to make sure it had the carbon roof - of course!, DCT, black interior, and not be something that was clearly tuned and abused. Also, lower mileage. I was just toying around with the idea until I found the perfect one down in Miami for the right price and appeared to be in excellent condition. The color is what closed the deal as I just couldn't stop staring at it.....Austin Yellow just has something about it with the F82's body lines. 2015 with only 57k miles. Tastefully modified and full bolt on was a bonus, but not tuned. It was owned by someone whop took very good car of the car. It really is almost in like new condition inside and out. Whole front clip of the car is PPF'd. The dealer put on some cheap plastic lip kit and side skirts, which look great, but I'll swap those out later. I'll have to look and see if it was the kind of owner that may have already done the crank hub upgrade. So I fly down to Miami last weekend with full intentions of coming back if it wasn't exactly what I wanted. Hopped an Uber over to look at it while I baked in the sun for an hour. Was baffled how new the car looked, signed the paperwork, and drove the thing back home over the weekend. Gave it an oil change and a full inspection..... Then immediately took it on a 3 day Dragon Rally. |

OH yeah, mods.
Full bolt on I guess you could say. - Active Autowerke downpipes - AFE MACH Force-XP full catback exhaust. Single pipe mid section with resonator. The most unique sounding system I have ever heard. - ER charge pipes and J pipe. - AFE Momentum cold air intake system. - Extended stud kit all the way around - Richland Forged GT4 wheels. 19x9.5 ET25 front and 19x10.5 ET35 rears which are perfect fitment without spacers. - Michelin PS2's all the way around but after the event I think the fronts are on the shopping list already. The leading edge took some serious wear on the Tail of the Dragon for three days. |

Well, it defiantly looks amazing. Funny you mention the different cars you were thinking about and I am in the same boat, considering the A90/91 Supra. Also I want a car that is not so prone to as many issues at the N54. Mine is not bad but I really do a lot of preventive maintenance.
So, what is the plan with the N54?

My plan for the 335is is to put it up for sale. I just need to detail the interior, color correct the front seats so they are like new, and touch up a few bits around the interior plastics and the car will be in excellent condition inside and out.
My goal is the have the 335is up for sale in the next 30-60 days. That sale will go towards the balance on the M4. Then I'll start to get the e92 335xi back together, with a full refresh, and that will go up for sale as a refreshed reliable stock car. |

Well, I had the unfortunate experience of getting rear ended in the M4 last weekend. Nothing major but the rear bumper is getting replaced. Going in on Wednesday. I'm sure it'll be in the shop for a few weeks.
335is is going up for sale. I'm just going to refresh the color on the seats and detail the interior. Let me know if anyone is interested. I took the car out one last time for a fall tour through the NC/SC skyway. What an amazing machine. |

And seriously, that's the nicest f*cking engine bay I've seen on an N54. I wasn't there with you on the front facing manifold, but it really sets it off. You were right. Someone should send that to BMW with a simple note. "took care of this for you. thx." I've got to admit though, I can't believe you're selling something you put so much time and effort into, and turned out to be such an amazing performing and looking automobile. |

KnighTT What PW reservoir is that again?
Did the Turner coolantt ank fit as well as it looks? I have a BMP FF IM I am installing and trying to figure out what to do with those two pieces. The N54 is such an fugly engine bay, it takes a lot of work to make it look nice. As seen above. It is not cheap either.

Torgus Everything that Turner makes fits with form and function. I have a great deal of their catalog in the engine bay and everything fits like they have a real R&D department.
That being said, they are a bit overpriced. I was going for a complete look in the engine bay, that was also fully functional, but there are definitely other options. The cooling res is pricey but it is one of the best fitting, keeps out of the way of everything, and is PERFECT if you are going front facing intake manifold. Other options leave little room to relocate the PS res without it looking ridiculous. The power steering res was a lucky local find on Facebook. It is from On3 Turbos. I think they sell it standalone now but it used to just come with their turbo kits. |

I am hearing the Sara McLachlin song "I will remember you" playing in my head.

N54 VTT Vacuum Relief Valve issues
Hello everyone,
so i was doing some valve cover job and decided to do the intake as well and figured why not do a close system pcv. i currently have the vtt dual occ with check valves on the high and low side. i put a relief valve coming from the headport. i took all shims out and it was sucking vacuum from the seals so i took the springs out and my afr are jacked. and my boost gauge reads .38 at idle. i google and read this post did but still unsure on what to do to fix the issue. i even got a lower resistance spring and still sucks vacuum out of the seals. any help will be greatly appreciate it |

Be sure to adapt the hose on a shop vac in order to thoroughly remove everything from the chamber as steel brush bristles tend to let go.
