Exhaust flap behaviour on a e92 335i with N54 engine
Hi,
I have a e92 335i from 2007 in Switzerland, and while the car has gone for inspection before, this year they decided that the exhaust flap is not working as they want to. I tested the flap with the bimmerlink app and it closes and opens when I change the setting, so I assume the vaccum lines and the electrovalve that controls it are working. The car has been remapped, but who did it said that the exhaust valve control is standard. The inspector says that the valve should close after 3500rpm, and it doesn't. Since his English isn't very good, and my German is non existent I'm not sure if there is something lost in translation. Does anyone know what should the default behaviour be? I went by a BMW dealership to try and clarify it but they weren't super clear, and ended up saying to try to go again and see if they still complain, if not come by to schedule an appointment... $$$ As I prefer to do my own maintenance and keep away from the stealership, I wanted to try and gather the most information possible before schedule an appointment that will probably also end up in the current ECU map being replaced by a standard one from them. Thanks! |

If you put 100 euros in the exhaust right next to the flap, and then walk him over and show him that the flap is ok, im sure he will realize he missed something.
