Charge Pipe Leaking Oil M57
Hi all, any help greatly appreciated. I installed the Tunezilla stage 2 tune w EGR delete option last night on my 2012 E70 X5 w/ M57, (still have the DPF and AdBlue exhaust pieces in place) and I noticed oil leaking down my charge pipe today (its the large black 3" pipe on the front of the motor on the drivers side that goes into the anti-shudder valve and EGR valve and down into what looks to be the cooler area). The EGR is still in there, I am still waiting for the Bimmertune race pipe and swirl flap delete kit. Is the oil leak related to the EGR delete tune? Do I need to replace the charge pipe or is it not needed now that I deleted the EGR? Thanks in advance!

If your charge pipe is still intact you should be able to just clean it.
Of course, the real question is why it is leaking oil (and how much). Most (if not all) of these motors get a significant amount of oil in the intake from the CCV. Can you tell where the oil is getting out of the charge pipe? If leaking from one end or the other, make sure the connection is clipped in tight. IIRC there are O rings at both ends of the charge pipe. There is also a sensor mid-way up the charge pipe that has a small o-ring. If you are just seeing oil at the bottom of the charge pipe, there is also an oil cooler attached near the bottom of the charge pipe which could also be a source of oil. If all of that checks out, the next places to consider would be the VCG and Trubos. |

I noticed a small 1/2" slit at the front of the big wire wrapped 3" rubber hose at the front between the radiator and the hose, the upper rubber hose that leasd into the ASV. I assume thats where the leak is coming from...
