Soft close door - Retrofit e92

Hi

This is a bit different mod for our cars. I have done this retrofit SA323 soft close option on my e92. Locks comes from bmw F07 GT and are full compatible.

Below is a short movie of my e92. Hope You will enjoy

Thats fantastic but what happens when people slam the door?

I swear one day I will get out and slam the door again but with their fingers in it.

Could not agree more. People slam my door like its a WW2 tank hatch. On my cab people did it by the glass which is even worse.

I hate door slamming even worse than the plopping down in the seats

What if it is raining
I guess they could be coded not to drop fully if it rains using the rain sensor?

Do like alot but as others, what if the door is slammed shut?

Cost of parts?
Which parts are needed?
A guide to retrofitting?

I rode in an Audi A8 recently in China. It had soft close and if the mechanism is the same in the BMW (which I guess it will be) then you could either close the door firmly (in the normal way) in which case the soft close didn't function, or deliberately pull the door very gently (in a way which would mean a normal door only closed onto the first 'click' of the lock) in which case soft close did the rest.

Used to drop a colleague to the train station after work. Fuckinghellll, he would slam that door shut like he was trying to friction weld it.
And I hate the way people slam my boot also. Now I handle most doors like the good chauffeur that I am.

In my opinion when You really slam a door, there is no difference at all. Exactly as Phil325i said. But obviously is very easy to push with one finger.

This is a quite expensive mod, specially for saloon. I have done this retrofit once on 6 series before for around £200 per door. That was including complete all parts (second hand locks, new genuine connectors and wiring), assembly and adding VO to car. Fitting time is around 5 hours for pair.

There is actually a few DIY online:
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=918744
http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=693571

A few pictures from my passenger work.

Anyway this stuff is very, very rare in UK, and also hard to get them.
If anyone want this system fitted on his car, just let me know on pm.

Cheers
