yes they are and they work very well together.
- 2 main use with MHD : back end flash or used only to monitor. You can very tune the car yourself for free. And of course you can hire a tuner that will create BEF flash map from the JB4 settings and logs. useful for custom setup; like single turbo, meth, port, etc. Outdated if you want a ''tune in a can (ots maps)'' on common hardware. |

What if I’m not running anything crazy. Like right now all I’m running power wise is air intake. Would it still be good? And if I adjust the boost up higher what parts can I damage?

You can buy the monitor license, but expensive, and not that useful if you want a 'flash and forget' tune. JB4 will bring complexity in your setup, mainly wiring and you might gave issue, and inputs that are not intuitive. While MHD flash the dme, and you dont mess with any wire, and input options are limited and well explained. When you combine both aka BEF (back end flash), you have huge flexibility to tune your own car with JB4. However, this is not intuitive at all, not much how to, and low support. Can be complicated fast. I did tune mine based on internet references, and end up hiring a tuner. Still using JB4+MHD, because I had this and it works. |

you can tune yourself with MHD, by editing .bin file with something like tuner pro, but you need great knowledge . But once again, this is more for uncommon setup and most people will hire a tuner. yes MHD has an option to switch maps on the fly, I believe there's a cost for this. Download the app and see the options offered. Quote:
For stock or FBO 335 , here the maps (you can switch on the fly) : Map 0: Stock bypass. Map 1: 13psi. Suggested for most racing applications. Map 2: 14.5psi. Suggested for those with intake and other bolt on modifications with 93 RM2 or higher octane. Map 3: Progressive WMI water injection mapping with failsafe. Map 4: Stock map w/ CAN active. Allows full logging and in dash gauges on the stock mapping. Map 5: Autotuning map. Boost ranges between 12-17psi based on your cars octane, conditions, and modifications. E85 compatible. If using E85 we suggest around 30% to start. Refer to the E85 FAQ for addl info. Resets to 93 octane level adaptions when selected and adjusts itself up or down from there. Map 6: User defined map generally only used for diagnostics or troubleshooting. Map 7: Race gas map. 18.5psi peak boost on the G5 ISO. Requires straight 100-104+ RM2 octane unleaded racing fuel. Never run leaded fuel. To use this map with E85 requires the E85 back end flash, inline booster fuel pump, and a 40%+ E85 mix, per E85 FAQ. Map8: Valet low boost map. May trigger 30FF under boost code in cars not also equipped with the back end flash map. HOWEVER, those are NOT flash ! This does not work like MHD. The jb4 need to intercept the signal, and resend it to trick the car DME. Less precision, slower. Like I said , it works, but for the price and your needs, you might want to keep it simple. JB4 require installation (not that hard), and MHD require nothing but the dungle. NOTE : you can use JB4 alone. But if you combine it with a flash (BEF), this will help a lot. So you can use JB4 2 ways, which is really nice. Last edited by oVeRdOsE.; 06-25-2024 at 10:14 AM.. |

If you ever want more option and control, you always can get a used JB4 (gen 5 if possible with bluetooth) and flash a free BEF map to use the most of the JB4. |

Option discussed : 1. MHD alone : only dongle + your phone + purchased MHD maps = flash . https://mhdtuning.com/products/mhd-f...icense-for-n54 2. JB4 alone : included maps that changes OEM dme reading = piggyback .0 https://www.jb4tech.com/forum/model-...series-n54-jb4 3. JB4 + MHD : use JB4 like intended, but you also flash a map (included with JB4) to the DME with the MHD dongle = Back end flash. https://mhdtuning.com/products/n54-jb4-bef-only-flasher + https://www.jb4tech.com/forum/model-...end-flash-maps |

2. JB4 alone : yes with an additional chip and relay. 3. BEF : yes, under MHD options. antilag and launch . Launch only for 6mt, at least for BEF MHD option. |

this is my option on a BEF flash, it says ''6mt only'', does not mean that it won't work with a full flash or JB4 module. Note this might very possibly only to adjust the RPM, and the automatic might be a fix RPM, but launch might work anyway. Auto people can confirm. Also, option discussed 1 and 3 you can have burbles (crack and pops), JB4 alone I dont believe you can. |
