It’s interesting that competitors are struggling to create “distinctive designs,” continuing to offer various sizes of the same template or killing off product lines altogether (RIP R8, c/e coupe for cle, etc.).

That said, the envelope has been pushed. XM “for rockstars” is ridiculous (how many rockstars are there, anyway? Are they buying the XM?)

Look at other legacies currently compromised - AMG, the corvette (mid engine is awesome but…), Lotus (EV, seriously?) boxster/cayman and Macan (ditto), 911 (heavy, hybrid non-manual GTS?), Jaguar, etc.

The good news is if you get a G8x - especially with a manual - even if you don’t get excited about the look, it feels like an M. The X5/6/7 is classic X.
