Question 2008 E92 | Upgrading my base audio system.

Blown 'amp/s' in my head-unit due to retro-fitting tweeters...

Car Model: 2008 E92 (UK Spec)
Audio Setup: Base Audio CCC (2x Door Speaker, 2x Rear Speaker, 2x Under-seat Subwoofer & NO AMP)

What is the current issue:
I tried to retro-fit tweeters in the driver and passenger door without realising that the head-unit is super specific on what it will and wont work with, the change from 4ohm to 2ohm impedance blew the 'amp/s' in the head-unit resulting in the left side passenger region is dead...

What I'm trying to find out:
I've been looking around for a cost effective and simple fix to this issue, I really want to keep the tweeters and focal inside speakers in the doors because they have improved the sound quality significantly, well, in the drivers side they have lol... I'm ideally looking for something like a head-unit that can be swapped in place of my current one that supports tweeters but will continue to operate with my car like normal and retain all of the standard CCC software. I'm hoping someone has done this before and it's going to be straight forward but knowing how many different specs of E92 there are I'm doubtful...

Your problem is most likely due to the fact that the Front Door Speakers
are Wired in parallel to the floor speaker. This makes it nearly impossible
to add tweeters or aftermarket speakers. Also the Head unit is already over stressed with stock setup.(and if you did manage to add speakers it wouldn't improve the quality of the system)
Head unit power isn't going to cut it and there are other issues read the following

There are many threads here on modifying the base system but you need to
start from and understanding of what it is. Please read all these links.

Thanks for the reply!

I know for sure I have the 'base' audio package, that's not my worry. My worry is keeping the tweeters by replacing the base head-unit with something that outputs a little more juice to support the tweeters. My current head unit is fried so I may as-well find something that is capable of driving the additional tweeters. I was hoping someone here may have had a similar issue in the past and found a nice work around... I could just buy a new head unit and remove the tweeters but as I said I'd prefer to keep them if that's an option without blowing the bank.

If you have BMW Nav already Idrive it's well integrated into the car .
This makes it kind of pain to replace. Most people do not replace Idrive Nav's.
They will sometimes add piggyback devices.

The problem with the base system is the parallel connection between the doors and the
floors . All the physical speaker locations need there own channel .
If you are an Avionics Engineer you should know something about electronics and matching
speakers and power as it is basic electronics.

Yeah the base system sucks, I wish I knew all this information before I bought the car to be honest but that's my bad for not looking deep enough into the different specs I guess...

After looking at the wiring diagrams it is fairly obvious what went wrong. I think the best course moving forward is removing the tweeters and buying a new and working head-unit...

Disappointing but oh well...

Thanks for the replies.
