P112E and P0171 codes n55 335i e92 2012

Hi,

A month ago the code P112F popped up in my OBD reader after seeing the full engine warning light come up. I did the adaptation procedure then the throttle reset and the code disappeared.

Two days ago I updated the DME software as I read it was a fix to the rough idling at low rpms and throttle lag. I think it actually fix it as these last two days the idling is not even that rough (could be a coincidence maybe?). Today I got the codes P112E and P0171 with the respective engine light of course.

I doubt this is due to the DME update as I was getting P112F before so was just wondering if you guys have any idea of what it could be. The car is completely stock and has done 104k miles so I am praying it is just a cracked charge pipe? Anyway I don't know how serious it can get, hopefully not too much...

Cheers!

P112E and P0171 codes n55 335i e92 2012

Update:

okay so the engine warning light disappeared, but OBD reader is still reading the code P112E with the message "manufacturer control".

Any idea of that the problem could be?

Thanks!

I'd check your map sensor and check the connection.

Codes 28A0 and 2BC0

Hi again,

just reviving this thread as I've been getting the codes 28A0 and 2BC0 for a year or so, I clean them, it seems fine but they come back after a while, sometimes with CEL included.

Explanation:

Active codes:
28A0: Air mass system, plausibility: calculated air volumes in air intake system implausible.
2BC0: Mixture control: Fuel-air mixture too lean.

DME shadow (inactive) codes
2C42- Mixture control: Multiple fault.

I have logged some data in different driving scenarios with MHD (I am currently running stage 0 but have data from a pull in stage 1 as well).

Here I attach the graphs showing Lambda, MAF and throttle % mainly under:

1. Idle scenario
Name: Idling scenario.jpg
Views: 269
Size: 150.6 KB

Name: Idling scenario2.jpg
Views: 261
Size: 231.2 KB

2. Pull in auto mode

Size: 193.2 KB

Size: 147.8 KB

Do these seem fine? Or I am looking at the wrong signals.

Thanks!

Have you tried replacing any parts to fix this?

It's also easier to share logs if you record the data with MHD and then upload to Datazap

Wow Datazap is quite handy, thanks for the heads up. Jus uploaded my logs up to now:

https://datazap.me/u/lomon98/stage-0...og=0&data=3-14

https://datazap.me/u/lomon98/stage-0...og=0&data=3-15

https://datazap.me/u/lomon98/stage-0...og=0&data=3-15

https://datazap.me/u/lomon98/stage-0...og=0&data=3-15

https://datazap.me/u/lomon98/stage-1...og=0&data=3-13

Btw, is there any reason why I cannot select Lambda Bank 2 in my MHD logging options? I am only able to log Lambda Bank 1.

Thanks!

Does anyone know if actually not being able to log Lambda Bank 2 with MHD in the n55 is something normal? I would expect to see it in the logging channels list but doesnt show up. Maybe the sensor/ conection is bad and thus MHD doesnt detect it?

Thanks!

I’m no mechanic but it might be missing because our engines are inline 6… instead of V configuration. Just my guess.

Mm yeah weird I just remember seeing it in n54 logs so that is what threw me off.

Perfectly normal because there is only 1 lambda sensor for all 6 cylinders due to the single turbo, twin scroll & very short exhaust manifold.

You can see my logs here if you want to compare with another N55.

https://datazap.me/u/lemansn55/2-3-4...og=0&data=4-20

https://datazap.me/u/lemansn55/pull-...og=0&data=4-20

https://datazap.me/u/lemansn55/6th-g...=0&data=4-5-20

Btw the images below are from the technical manuals which are all available on this forum. The single downpipe of the N55 means it can only measure all 6 cylinders as a single bank.

Nothing to do with inline vs V engines. My M54 measured two banks (cyl 1-3, 4-6) because it could and it gives better accuracy and control.

It all depends on exhaust manifold design and space.

You're unlikely to see more than one bank for a 4-cylinder engine though, and in racing applications there may be a lambda sensor for each exhaust runners or even EGT sensors etc.

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? I have a slight suspicion you might have one
Also, I think you should change your MAF sensor

I still have to compare my data against other’s people logs but I think my lambda looked allright if I am not mistaken. ~ 14.7 in idle

If you want to compare certain data in various scenarios from another N55 E92 let me know and I can help, I can log from my car
But still, I would highly recommend changing the MAF sensor. The errors that you are getting are related to a faulty MAF sensor. It might be that simple

Feel free to take a look at my logs.

2012 N55 manual on stock tune with a VRSF chargepipe. I sometimes get a weird idle where the revs drop below 500rpm at idle

Only codes I used to get were 2BC0 and another for mixture control but could be worth comparing if you're interested.
