2006 325i losing sound from front speakers
I have only had the car about 5 weeks....When I turn on the radio I notice that sound only appears to be coming from the rear speakers....When I crank up the volume to about 3/4 or more the front speakers start working normally again and appear to stay on....I need to do this procedure every time I get in the car to get the front speakers to work.....Any idea what the problem might be?....thanks for any replies

It is at 0...I have already checked settings...It should have an equal distribution to front and rear speakers....but after the car sits for a while I have to crank up the volume to get the front speakers to engage and then they will work on any volume.....until the car sits for a while again maybe the amp in the head unit has failed......and I need to replace the head unit? A 06 US Car has and amp
Either it will have the Hi Fi system option 676
or the Top Hi Fi , Logic 7 option 677. Amps are in Trunk area .(read the third link Entertainment system pdf) A common problem is water on the amp. The amp is located behind the US Driver side wheel well under the trunk cover. You can buy the Hi Fi amps cheaply on Ebay the Logic 7 amp is more expensive. You can print out your option numbers by running the Vin through mdecoder.com (so you can figure out what you have) BMW stereo types http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=352586 http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...2&d=1266451970 http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...2&d=1260829447 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=138949 http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...1&d=1209780865 http://bmwcoders.com/forum/3-er-8/bm...1-e92-e93-291/ http://technicpnp.com/menuDiagrams/d...e90_92_93.html http://www.musicarnw.com/page-2/ http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...3&d=1169133185 http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...1&d=1209780605 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=641323 http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...4&d=1278871872 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=343673 Also it's possible for the stereo to be turned off by the IBS system if you have a weak battery. Read about IBS in the first electrical pdf. Battery voltage should be above 12.4 resting. Try putting a slow full charge on the battery if its under 12.4 measure the battery voltage at the end of the day and again in the morning to see if it can hold a charge. electrical pdf https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...,d.cGU&cad=rja http://www.shrani.si/f/G/fL/2lp3YVG1...hicle-elet.pdf http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...85464276,d.cGU Last edited by ctuna; 07-21-2020 at 08:40 PM.. |

I'm seeing the same thing, 676 stereo, 2009 328i. It comes from any audio source, CD, radio etc. I re-soldered a few joints on the amp that looked faulty, no change

I might indeed have that radio. For that price, probably will just live with it.
And thank you for the help like always @ctuna Last edited by NickRay; 07-30-2020 at 02:01 PM.. Reason: thx |

After thinking about this for a while, I think one of the 7" Android HUs might be the route I take. The replacement OE HU with the updated part number is just too expensive for what was an $8k car. And it looks like no matter which used HU I get, if it's an older one it will have problems. Either the sound output issue, or the display will develop dead pixels. CarPlay would be pretty sweet to have too. For $250 or less, I don't see the OE HU as a comparable option.

Old thread bump, car was acting a bit strange so I ordered a new voltage regulator and also picked up a used HU from a later model LCI E90, 65129242505 part number. If that combo solves my radio issues, I will update this thread.

Nope, didn't need to touch the door card/speaker wires. After replacing the battery and the voltage regulator, the stereo works perfectly now. So this issue was probably a low current problem all along.
If someone else is having radio issues, maybe start to think about replacing your battery. Mine was measuring 12.0v with the car off, so it was very close to being toast. |
