completely lost, please help
About 5 years ago, my 335i was running perfectly. I parked it in the garage, and it pretty much sat there for 4 years, though I did start it every couple months and drive it around the block. It just went over 100,000 miles, and I was planning on selling it, but never got around to it. Then about a year ago, I took it to fill up with gas and drove home. I got out of the car, went inside, then came back outside to put it in the garage and it started running very rough, to the point where it wouldn't pull itself.
I came to this forum (I think) and learned how to test the mosfets, and found some of them were shorted according to the procedure. I sent the ECU out to a highly recommended vendor and they replaced everything. I put the computer back in and there was no change. I then took it to a BMW repair shop (non dealer) and they said the wiring harness was damaged. They replaced it with new, and it ran better, but still runs like crap. They said I have -1 injectors and that I need to get new ones. They wanted some outrageous amount of money for them, so I said no and took the car home. I bought a set of -12 injectors and just installed them myself. I programmed the injectors with protool, and started the car. Still runs rough, though better. I scanned DCTs and got this: 30BA- Injectors 1,2,3 or DME internal fault 2C3B- Oxygen sensor before cat conv not connected 2E8E- intelligent battery sensor IBS missing So new injectors, but I still have an internal fault? How do I check to see if the injector is working? Any ideas on what I should do, besides plug in the O2 sensor (I assume missing one of the O2 sensors wouldn't cause a cylinder not to fire. I think it's missing one, where it was missing 2 before I think. My first thought is that when I plugged the "new" computer back in with the old injectors, maybe the old injector blew out the new mosfet and now it needs to be fixed again? What do you think? |

Update: I pulled the ECU out and checked the MOSFETs, they are all fine. I plugged the battery back in and started, same fault, but this time I noticed something ProTool said under the error code: Injectors Initialization Error, Group 1. What is that?

30ba is most likely the dme, even if mosfets check out.
One of my theory/ speculation is that dme can go bad especially when the car is started after sitting w low battery voltage.

Any suggestions? Should I send it out to a shop, get another one off ebay? I could upgrade to the MSD81, but if I change ECUs, I have to program it, match keys and everything else...
