Here’s my setup:
Wheels: Avante Garde m359
Front: 18 x 8.5 +35
Rear: 18x 9.5 + 33
Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport All Season
Front: 235/40/R18
Rear: 265/35/R18
Brand new Bilstein B8 shocks and struts with OEM sport springs.
My car: e92 335i 2009

I only rub with passengers in the back on bumps. Should I try to switch to255/35 in the rear to fix the issue or will that not do it? I’m just confused because guides online like the Apex wheel and fitment guide recommend this setup for OEM + so I’m confused why I have issues. Are the A/S tires just a lot thicker? Any help appreciated thank you.

I am in the same situation, I went by the guide on the Apex and VMR websites and I slightly rub on the driver side for time to time. I have 8.5x18 ET35 and 9.5x18 ET33 with 235/40/18 and 265/35/18 PS4S. I slightly rolled the fender and would roll it more if needed. Last week, I ordered replacement B4, mounting hardware and drop links, there is no leakage but it has 141k miles on it. I think that it will work if I get 1/4” or so with the new components.

I wouldn’t go to 255/35/18 because I find the 265 is stretched enough on a 9.5” wheel.

Increase your rear camber by a tad or switch to something like a continental DWS06+. I have the same spec wheels and tires and my Michelins rubbed every once in a while. Now that I have the Contis I never do bc their side wall is very rounded

Okay thanks for the responses. I think I’ll try rolling the fenders and if that doesn’t work switching tires.

Did you go by Apex's "LCI" fitment guide? They have separate guides for pre-LCI and LCI cars.

9.5" +33 is "Aggressive" on an LCI (8mm wider track than non-LCI).

For any future readers, I suspect that's the discrepancy here. In my experience, Apex's guides are bang on.

The '09 cars are Pre-LCI.

Thanks, I forget that the E90 and E92 were different.

Yeah mine is Pre LCI. Seems that the AS tires are just extra wide.

Also my tires were rubbing a lot worse before I changed the suspension so that will definitely help.

Did you just roll the fenders using one of those cheap tools from amazon and a heat gun? How were the results and how long did it take to roll each fender?

The roller on Eastwood is on backorder so I bought a cheap one and a heat gun. I spent about an hour on the left side and did a slight roll since it was only rubbing on the left. I also inspected the suspension and ordered replacement shocks and mounting hardware which will be delivered early next week. As I previously posted, I only need about a 1/4" to be safe.

One that has really helped with rubbing on my car is replacing the bush that holds the main rear suspension arm to the subframe. I went for a poly bush.

I still rub at full compression when heavily loaded, but not in everyday running.

I believe that worn bushings won't control the wheel movement and alignment as well as new.
