Radiator Mounting Placement
Hi there,
I have been doing a DIY radiator and radiator support frame replacement because of an accident ![]() Putting things back together I am stuck at moving the condenser and the bracket in place and putting the radiator in (Diagram: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=17_0386 ) I cant remember how does the radiator mounting fits in (number 8 in diagram). Very much appreciate it if anyone could help or if have a picture of the mounting and the radiator installed so I can figure how things should look. Extra questions in case you know: 1. Should I first fix the condenser in place using the big rubber screws on top (number 10 in the diagram)? 2. How do I affix the rubber mounting? 3. How does the condenser sits on the cooler mounting ( number 9 in the diagram) Thank you very much and cheers! ![]() |

I imagine you mean DIY by FYI? And how do you know my DIY limit and why do you think I would care about your limit? I stripped the car to the chassis myself and put it back together without even the help to lift things or hold them in place. Yet you jump in here with your pajamas reminding me of my limit cause I forgot what direction should I put a piece of rubber in while bending underneath the car. lol. Go get a life. |

The big rubber screws basically just apply downward pressure to keep everything held in place. They don't really attach to anything. |

Thank you very much! Very helpful. ![]() After doing it I wanted to add this: The rubber mountings (2) have a T-shaped engraving on them. The bottom of the T should be facing outwards on each side. There are similar flanges on each side support that inserts inside these two mountings and holds them snug to the supports. I found it easier to attach the mountings snug on the side supports and then let them help with sitting them over the shelf. I was able to lift the side brackets slightly and find the flanges running my finger over the edges (Having a new unit to look at helped!). They are just a few inches above the buttom of the side brackets facing downward edges. You won't be able to see them with have to patiently running your fingers over the downward facing edges and look for the T pattern (facing outwards). If you find it they will nicely slide in the rubber mounding engravings and you will know you did it correctly. Then you should be able to sit these mountings over the shelf.
