2008 328i (n51 SULEV) Strong Crank, but wont start.
So my 2008 328i (N51 engine) wont turn over. It has a strong crank but just wont start.
I thought it could've been my fuel pump failing so i switched that out and it turned over the next morning only to die on me again in about 30 min. I checked to make sure the fuel pump runs using INPA and it definitely does as i can hear it priming when I activate it, but i wasn't getting any fuel pressure at the fuel rail. Then i thought it could've been my Epkm2 module so i grabbed a donor and programed it but that didn't help either. I basically switched out all the basic culprits hoping something would help and i am still at a loss. Parts Ive Changed- - New Battery (Registered ) - New Spark plugs - New ignition Coils - New Fuel Pump - Donor ekpm2 module (Programmed) Ive attached the codes that INPA pulled hoping someone could lead me on the right path . e90 errors 2.pdf * I did notice a weird electrical smell (couldn't pin point the exact location) when i turned over after I replaced the fuel pump. |

looks like we have the same issue? im stuck too... same year car. mine died while driving, got it towed home. i added some fuel to mine and it actually started. it didnt run quite right, had a bit of a rough idle, i wont drive it like that for sure. my theory now is the transfer pump that moves fuel from the other side is failing? once the tank got below 1/4 it died, i added a couple gallons and it started. but we cant get to that side of the tank, so then what? all the service things ive seen say to replace the whole tank... they dont mess with anything, just replace it. but thats expensive!
i got a 2aae code, fuel pump. i thought maybe i had that line come off the regulator inside the tank, but it looks ok. obviously my pump works because itll start with more fuel in it. it kind of makes sense that the transfer pump isnt picking up fuel from the other side of the tank, starving the fuel pump. thats all i can come up with? i hate to order a new fuel tank if im wrong tho! |
