Android Headunit Question

Hi,

My 2011 E90 335i does not have an iDrive or USB port for aux while my e92 has all of it. I was looking around on the forums and websites. I saw a post where a guy used an Android screen and the nbt head unit on a single hump dash. Is there more info on that or it's all custom-made for brackets? Can I replicate this with just plain old CIC and a head unit that supports pass-through and then use MMI prime or something that could give me carplay functionality? Trying to look oem as possible as I look the android screen setup on a single hump dash.
