Check your ECU connections, this is the #1 cause of no starts after tuning. The rocker arm should be fully open before inserting the connector. See this video:

Thanks for this write up!

Finally getting around to getting mine done.

I’m just gutting the DPF and deleting the EGR (tune is sitting waiting for me).

My question is with the wastegate; OP just removed it and plugged the port on the turbo.
Is that safe to do? I’ll reroute the coolant and vacuum lines but what about the sensor in the waategate itself (looks like a temp probe but I’m not sure).

I was short on funds and time, so I needed to solve the problem without the full delete. I contacted some tuners about what I needed and settled on DUDMD. I had him give me a Stage 1 tune, but add on an SCR delete and a EGR delete. No "kit" needed, just the electronic tune. All remote, you can do all yourself without any wrenches, just a computer and an internet connection

This will keep your DPF active....will scrub the soot, but turn off all SCR related faults including the NOX sensor past the DEF injector.

That solution bought me some time until my DPF reached end of life at 164k miles and I had to full delete.

Hi,

I have same “no start countdown” on my 2011 X5 35d. I was hoping to do just a tune to turn off scr and egr like you described. I’m curious in your case after your dudes tune how many miles were you able to drive before your dpf gave up the ghost?

Guys, i saw a thread/post where guy replaced lower turbo on completely stock emissions/dpf still intact, picture was with turbos and manifold out and dpf just hangs in there by itself. If someone can send me this link it will be very much appreciated!

Just like everyone has said, this thread was super helpful so far. Was able to get the DPF out and didn't have a hard time getting the 4th bolt from the motor mount. Was able to fill around and drop the socket in while pushing the DPF up.

Just need to do the EGR delete and should be good to go.

Question Issue after removal

Got a USA 2010 X5 35d, tuned.

Removed egr and the scr long ago. Tuned for dpf removal but left it in place for months.

Finally got a dpf delete kit and now that it’s gone, only the large turbo appears to work.

My mechanic has no clue and claims vacuum and vacuum lines are fine.

Now what?

Codes?

You've got 2 pressure convertors and a ev valve that need testing. Also, vac lines need to be replaced as well if they haven't been.

When the vehicle starts does the turbine switchover rod retract? (Big silver can to the left of the vac reservoir) If not, you've found your problem.

No new codes. Same ones as before when it worked fine, 4C83 & 9C4A. I had assumed this was just due to a clogged dpf.

I'll see if he can test those things. More than likely he doesn't know how. He claims to have tested the rod you mentioned but I don't believe him. I'll check it on startup later.

I'm relatively sure its a misrouted or broken vacuum line but I'm no mechanic.

Just had someone start the car while I looked. Rod did not appear to move. Ugh! I even asked him to test that yesterday and he refused. What a nice guy. Clearly I need a new mechanic.

Any information regarding testing the rest?

Well you now know why your HP turbo isn't doing anything and you've got zero low end boost.

Watch these vids. They'll show you how to go through all the vac lines and test everything..
