Your guess was it didn't have much down low, just 800 ft. lbs. at 3k rpm?

C5 Z06 is where it's at Cleanly styled, purposeful, light, simple, easy to work on, no BS, could be pushed on the street, and was somewhat AFFORDABLE back then (mid to upper $70K in today's dollars).
GM isn't alone is this styling silliness. Porsche, Benz/AMG, Ferrari, etc. are all guilty of ruining their halo cars with gawdy, over the top styling, wings, excessive aero, massive ducts and silly aero panels gaps/vents/overhangs, etc. It's not necessary. The answer is not more and more power. Take note of the best drivers cars in the last ~20 years and note of how much power they have.
