lower coolant hose n52

Hello everyone,

I am trying to replace my lower coolant hose and for some reason I cannot get it to seat properly for the life of me. It was a pain to get this hose off in the first place (perks of bmw plastic) but putting it back on seems to be even harder. Has anyone had this issue before? I’m specifically having trouble with the portion that connects to the radiator. It just won’t sit all the way in no matter how hard I push. The other side sits in great though.

I always use a little bit of silicone grease on the o-rings on the inside of the hose fittings to make them slide on easier. I would not recommend forcing it. Especially if you have an older radiator. Make sure all surfaces are clean and free of obstructions.

Are you using an aftermarket part? Some brands may have fitment issues.

At least a brand off FCP should be good… Rein or the likes.

Actually seems like the recent batches of rein lower radiator hoses from fcp have had poor fitment. A few other members and myself have run into issues. It's pretty unfortunate since the only other option is the genuine one.

I recently did radiator and hoses. I used Rein hoses from fcp and had fitment issues with the lower also, in fact I wasn’t able to use it. Everything else was fine.

I had the same issue with both my E90 and Audi. Heat up the hose fitting with a heat gun and it will eventually slide on.

I have noticed a spike in negative experiences with Rein plumbing. Probably just a small percentage, but enough of a problem to notice it.

I've also had fitting issues with the lower hose using REIN, I've sent it back and I'm getting the Continental. Good idea using the heat gun, but I'm going to try this first.

I just did my radiator replacement and couldn't get the old lower rad hose off, I did use a new CRP Rein hose and had no problems, little silicone and clicked right in. Ive not had any problems with Rein products so far including mickey mouse flange, upper rad hose replaced over 2 years ago which I reused, lug bolts, etc

Just did two cooling systems with Rein hoses from FCP. No issues at all.

Reviving this to share my experience with my e90 2006 325i. I tried 3 different hoses.
  1. Rein chr0462 from fcp euro. Didn’t secure to the radiator
  2. OEM part# 17 12 7 531 581, didn’t fit. The groove for the tab on the radiator was about .5 cm too shallow
  3. Rein chr0462 from Autozone fit. Not sure why this rein hose fit and the first one didn’t, may have come from a different batch
