I recently swapped sport seats into my lci E91. The seats came from a pre lci E90 and caused an active headrest code, I was able to disable the active headrest problem using NCS expert no problem.

I am now stuck trying to figure out how to enable the adjustable bolsters and lumbar support. Currently the seats have all the previous functions of the base power and heated seats.

Would anyone be able to provide some guidance on what ECU on NCS expert I need to be looking in for the seat modules? or what the bolsters and lumbar would be named in German on the program?

Pretty sure it's in the drivers seat module which is the FAS module in NCS. The other way to possibly do it is to find the option code for those seats and add it to your vo in CAS and FRM then default code the seat module.

Is this when you align the vin of the seats with the vin of the car? That way the ecu’s believe that the seats are original?

Sorry I’m very new to this. I just got this coding set up and running for this job. I’m using the bimmergeeks software and updated sp-daten files from them for E89.

Found what needed to be coded to activate the lumbar, bolsters and leg support. Was able to code them to active and they stay this way in the code but remain in active. Looks like the wired connections aren’t their from the factory even on a final production year 2012 E91

Oh well we have a clear dash now and they are in a comfortable position.

FAS module is called CFAS in NCS dummy. When using NCS dummy you have to look at the version of the module in NCS expert, then select the corresponding module in NCS dummy. For instance, my FAS module version is CFAS_PLX.C10.

You add the option codes for the things you have retrofitted to your vehicle order (vo) It's basically just a list of all the optional features the car is fitted with. So in your case you will need to add S481 (sports seats) S488 (lumbar support) S490 (backrest width adjustment) fa write those options to the CAS and FRM (this is where the vo is stored) i think you also have to default code the CAS, FRM and maybe JBE also.

Looks like you also need to run a power wire from fuse 20 to both the seats, which is probably why they aren't working.

There's zero coding required when swapping in base to sport seats. All the functionality is within the seat, coding lumbar or sport seats to the VO isn't going to do anything. If your bolsters or lumbar isn't working you haven't wired them up properly.

Don’t see how this is the case when their is only one wiring harness for each seat that connects only one way. The only thing unplugged is the small white connector for the active head rests as these are pre lci seats.

Because a module doesn't control the lumbar or bolsters. Read post #3 here.. You don't have them wired properly.

There is a seperate power wire for the seat bolster switch which runs from fuse 20 to both the seats. Have you got power at the seat bolster switch?

I swapped my e91 normal seats (elec, mem, heated) for sport seats with the same functions. Car is from 5/2012, seats from 2010 car. Seat harness i see pin 7 as steady plus for lumbar and bolsters. I don't know what to check next? Can anyone help me? I found one forum which situation is exactly mine, but his seats worked without any modifications, so I'm a little bit lost.

you need either join this wire to supply wire to main module
or
if you want factory way - run additional positive and negative wires from fusebox and install additional fuses

I take it my car harness doesn’t have contacts for pins 7 and 13 from seat.
I’m thinking: i take pin 4 (from car harness) and splice this with a new postive wire to connect to pin 7 and the same thing for 8 and 13 (but ofcourse negative wire). That way my car harness connects to the pins on the seat harness. Will this work or is it best to just do what you described above?
