Sound System Upgrades

Hello guys. I decided to make this topic to share the best sound system options for our E9X.

There are thousands of topics about this but many of them are over 10 years old. Many of them have links for nowhere. New technologies have already been launched and new ideas have appeared.

I hope with this topic we can share the best current options for sound systems Base / Hi-Fi / L7. Not only Bav Sounds or Alpha one, Because in Europe it is difficult to acquire these systems and I think there are cheaper options.

Fisher Audiotech amp /dsp's and speakers or
2nd choice Mosconi/Gladen .
Logic 7 amp system will be pain to modify .

There is no development for these old system's anymore
but the basics of audio is still the same.
Also there is very little interest in Hi Fi anymore.
And you have to prepared to empty your wallet for the good stuff.

To the OP, I am with you and looking forward to this thread. Ctuna is a wealth of information. Much of his past advice has been focused on people who want to retain stock mounting locations/head units.

As our cars are frequently now quite old and only really of value to those who continue to cherish and drive them, sound upgrades that go above and beyond OEM are definitely of interest to some of us. This means we can consider non-standard mounting locations and configurations if we want.

I have the Logic 7 system with CD changer and a dash radio that is slowly losing its pixels. Since everything is connected through the vehicle's MOST system, I have decided to keep the stock radio and some speakers for news, and checking out local radio stations. For music, I am going with my phone/DAP hardwired to a DSP/Amp(s), custom 3 way in-front, possibly a front passenger side sub, and rear sub.

I realise this is not integrated enough for some, but integration into a MOST based car is expensive and limited in options. Some of the Chinese head units look interesting, but sound quality and build-quality does not appear anything close to OEM or modern SQ systems. The Match and Mobridge units look great if you need to stay integrated, but they are limited in their expansion capability, and may be under-powered for some.

I am interested sound-deadening (best weight and cost to value), custom speaker mounting (stockish), and lower cost speakers driven actively with DSP control. I am not competing, and my listening will mostly be done on the interstate at 75+ miles per hour. I also like to drive my car, so weight reduction is something I do in other areas. Adding hundreds of pounds in sound equipment would be counter-productive to the driving experience.

Also interested in this. Admittedly I’m hoping for some spoon feeding. I’ve read through ctuna’s threads/replies and it is an order of magnitude above my current understanding.

I’m still interested in keeping the stock locations but would like to upgrade the amp and speakers in my LCI e91 with hifi. I’ve installed the Mr12volt system to retain my CIC, audio through MOST and factory look while having Bluetooth/carplay. I’m not adverse to spending money but would still like to get the best sound for my buck without the extra fee for convenience.
