Transmission swap

Hi, I’m currently doing a transmission swap on my 2007 BMW 335xi transmission got cracked four-wheel-drive shaft snap and broke the transmission. My question is when removing the train do I have to unbolt the flywheel or I can remove the trans without onbolting the flywheel?
