My new car, I've been told, has the Logic 7 system, HD Radio and I Drive, however, it does not have the iPod USB option. My current 335i cpe has the Logic 7, no I Drive, no HD Radio, and has the iPod USB option. I really enjoy this option as I have an iPod that lives in the car on a permanent basis. Will the new car be able to have the iPod USB retrofitted or does the iPod simply play through the I Drive? I really don't have any more information as I have not yet even seen the new car, it is currently on a truck to the dealer. Thanks in advance!

no, there is no retrofit for this but you can get the older MOST bus retrofit (which isn't bad but has some limitations)

If you have the I-drive + the 6FL option, then yes, you can see all your songs in the I-drive menu,etc...control via steering wheel options...

But if you don't have the 6FL option and have I-drive, you will simply have to use the AUX cable which isn't bad, but you don't have any of the songs displayed in the I-drive

As Jonathan mentioned if you do not have the 6FL USB option their is no retrofit for it. You can get the dealer installed option which is ipod specific and it will play through iDrive or just use your AUX input.

The dealer installed retrofit kit is not only iPod specific but it is different than the 6FL factory option in terms of lmits on the number of tracks displayed (varies by model and equipment) and the way it displays information (CD1, CD2 etc. instead of Playlist, Album , etc.).
