BMW e92 Glovebox Connection

I've been searching extensively online to identify this but haven't had any success. I'm hoping someone here might have some insight. There's a connection inside my glovebox compartment that appears to be an aftermarket installation. Does anyone know what it could be?

I own a 2006 BMW E92 325i, which doesn't have Bluetooth or a USB connection. In the armrest, there's an AUX port, and beneath the rubber insert, there's a 30-pin iPod connector that also appears to be an aftermarket installation. I assume these components are related to an attempt at creating an audio connection.
