Bad Rear Inner Tire Wear

When I went to fix a flat in one of the rear tire on my 06 330i (RWD) , the inner tire wear was so bad. It was to such an extent that the inner tire tread was very low and inner part of the tire itself was in a very bad shape. The outer part looks good with more tread depth. I am sure the other rear tire would be in the same condition. I am running staggered setup with 255/35/18 in the rear. Alignment was done an year ago. Suspension was refreshed two years ago, but I feel the shocks are not performing so well. I am able to feel even the minute imperfections of the road. Will post the pic shortly

What could be wrong here?

Due to negative camber at the rear, the inner edge does tend to wear faster than the middle/outside.

But if it's extreme I'd suggest another geo from a trusted shop.

Thank you. By another geo, do you mean wheel alignment?

Yes geo=geometry=alignment. It's very sensitive, so very easy to get it wrong. If you want it done right, you really need to find a good shop.

I usually go to the BMW dealer for alignment.

Cool. In which case I'd talk to them about the tyre wear. Assuming your suspension is in decent condition and the alignment is good, you shouldn't be seeing excessive wear. Tyre pressure is the final variable, I guess.

These are the pictures of the tires. Added the pictures of both the outer tire wear (1 pic) and the inner tire wear(2 pic) to show the difference

After removal of these old tires, did a mount and road force balance of 4 new tires . They gave the sheet with the following numbers related to Road Force Balance. Not sure what it means.

Wow that wear is horrible! You need to have the rear suspension and alignment investigated ASAP, I'd say.

Also, that being an extreme winter tyre, it probably has a very soft compound which is exacerbating the issue.

Yes, I already did a wheel alignment at the dealer and i am not comfortable with the shocks too as they feel more bouncy at even small road imperfections. Planning to take it to the shop where I did the suspension refresh. Let's see.

Same issue with solution

I have the same issue with excessive inner rear tire wear. Ate through to the wire braid on a set 2 years old. Changed the tires, along with full control arm replacement. Put new tires on, alignment, camber and balance done. All good right?... Wrong.... In a month the rear end felt slippery in the rain, took a look at them and same issue... worn hard on the inside. Back to the shop... mechanic was amazed. He did another alignment trying to figure out what was causing the wear.

Solution
The bushing on the tire carrier that was bad on both sides.
Replaced and all is good.

bushing is listed as #3 in this schematic.
