Yeah they should survive 600wtq, but PS2 are killing them and they don't make that much. I just don't see a point in building an engine and not upgrading rods.

Aight ! Upgrading them what about forged pistons now ?

They offer JE forged pistons but im afraid they will slap a lot in the canadian winter ( -15 celsius average all winter )

Also.i heard that when they slap it will eventually mess up your cylinders walls...

I chose oem coated pistons...

Thoughts ?

Can't comment on pistons. That's my fear as well. To many issues with early N54 builds for me to want to be the first to try upgraded pistons.

You ever get to the bottom of this? I am having a similar issue with oil consumption, but it only really happens when I am driving hard. Been too scared to pull plugs and check them, but I also haven't noticed stumbling idle or any codes. Will probably have a leakdown/compression test done in a week or two but if it were rings I'd think I would smoke all the time... I have no smoke or leaks anywhere.

Engine is still unopen and alive 30k+ miles later. I just have to replace the spark plug every 3-4k miles. Burn a quart every 1500 miles irrelevant of driving style.

I'm 90% sure I have a bent rod then. When my turbo failed in January it sent oil all over the place and I think one of my cylinders got a bit too much and hydrolocked.

Leakdown/Compression should help verify this along with checking on plugs, but if I pull plugs and they are all dry I don't know what I'll do aside from live with it. I definitely have blacker exhaust tips and no leaks, but smoke never really appears, just drinks oil.

This is a long shot, but do you still have the car and did you ever figure out the issue?
