2009 335d race chip?

Just noticed this unit on my 2009 335d. ANyone familiar with this?

Looks to be some sort of external tuning chip for the M57. I had a bad experience with the JBD version of this on my e70 x5 35d, but maybe this company does it better.

It came unplugged so I don't know if I want to risk plugging it in as the previous owner had it unplugged, intrigued though..

I wouldn't mess with it. I have no personal experience with that specific one, but these piggyback boxes had their day and it's now gone. They were necessary before it was possible to unlock the DME. Since then a flash tune is the way to go, no more tricking the factory DME programming.
