Looking at a 2008 328i - question
Going to look at a 2008 328i today. It has 139k miles, and the guy says it "overheats after 10 minutes".
Could it just be that it needs a water pump or whatever obvious issues i find with the cooling system? Or is there something sinister I need to know about this model? Could the engine have been ruined by overheating (I used to have an e46)? What should I be looking for when I go see it to determine whether it's fixable or a write off? Thanks |

Yeah, unless you are a professional mechanic, I would stay far away from a car that has previously overheated. The likelihood that the head or block are warped or heagasket damaged is way too high.

You have way of knowing what this seller means by "Overheats in 10 minutes." Totally unknowable based on just that piece of info.
All I can say is that you need to go visit the car and bring a code reader. Without looking for codes, you know pretty much nothing. |
