Headlight auto level function after M3 rear chamber arm mod

Has anyone upgraded to M3 rear camber arm and retained the headlight leveling function?

I did some research and find some owner custom fab their lower m3 bracket.
However, anyone have use the upper sensor mount, switch the lever to other side? need coding this way?

Please share. Thanks in advance.

Check with Harold at HP Autowerks (vendor on the forum). He has a solution for this upgrade.

Thanks, I know that his rear chamber kit comes with a custom fab bracket but I would like to know how others solve this issue.

The HP custom bracket in question is not required and never was. I know this because I designed the custom bracket in question. I relied on bad inspection info from HP so big mistake on my part. Yo Orb - Fab'd brackets to use 335i leveling device with M3 bracket, otherwise didn't at all mate. Would have to flip the device, which may or may not [likely] have worked, or buy the M3 device. My Ace Hardware kludge working well, however.

What was your solution?

And what is that device anyway? Assumed a pot, but might be an optical encoder....?

Hi Orb, since when turning the sensor's arm 180deg. The anti-clock wise motion became clock-wise (when the spring compress). Will this turn the auto leveling up side down?
Need coding to fix?
I've tried to search very hard in this forum but couldn't find my answer. Really hope you can share your knowledge. Thanks

Hi Calwaterboy. I have check the M3 & 335 leveling sensors and they have identical part number within a same production period. So I bet we can use our old rear sensor with the M3 oem bracket.

Since having the work done shown in my signature block, my headlights have been shining much too high. Supposedly an item to deal with this came in the M3 rear goodies kit from Tischer, but it didn't work. So they either installed it incorrectly or the item is not right. The only thing the shop has been able to do is manually lower my beams slightly using a front adjustment. This is a very high end shop, but that pertains to engine and suspension work, not these fine details.

Any ideas?

Make the bracket - scroll way down to it or search post for: "Sensor arm needs to be rotated 180°" - adjust headlights. An easy fab, takes a small ammt of effort. Much less trouble than noodling with the leveling electronics.

Still working. No worries. No further maint.

I am now an aging klutz so I won't do it myself, but I will show it to the shop, who does a lot of fab work. This would be a no brainer for them.

I got my M3 rear camber arms from Harold @ HPA, it came with the piece CALWATERBOY mentioned you can make - works great. Probably simple enough to make.

Is this the final status or have there been new findings since then?

Have a look on the two links above.
They show the braket of the headlight hight adjustment on the rear axle.
