2011 335xi, N55 engine: I finally got my cylinder head off, and while there are no obvious points of breakage on the head gasket, i was getting chocolate milk coolant and exhaust fumes in the coolant reservoir. This gasket definitely looks pretty beat up, but is this enough to cause those issues? I plan on getting a straight edge and feeler gauge to make sure it’s not warped, but it would put my mind at ease if someone could give me their opinion. For context, my car has never overheated and been driven pretty regularly aside from an occasional pull. any alternative viewpoint would help! thanks!

Hard to tell by a forum pic cause like you said, no signs of breakage. In the other thread you said the shop confirmed it was head gasket but you didn't say how they confirmed it, what was the diagnosis? Also suggested in that thread to change the OFHG, did you ever do that?

OFHG will be replaced when the engine is being put back together, shop confirmed the head gasket by doing an exhaust fume test.

Also, my exhaust camshaft is slightly misalligned, the locking tool didn’t fit due to the slight difference in angle. My pistons are at tdc, but to fix the camshaft timing can i just line it up by rotating the cams into the tdc position or is that a terrible idea?
