MHD 2.0x Maps

On the MHD Facebook page they have posted the following.

I have installed the FG MHD app on my phone and may have a play around this weekend. Anyone else willing to give it a go?

Quote:
To everyone that is willing to test. The 2.0x maps are available publicly, you can flash them from the MHD F/G app on your N55 E series (ultimately we will merge all 3 apps).

Can you guys flash 2.0x maps with the current FG app (4.75), test drive / log them and comment with datazap link and impressions under the ORIGINAL comment you made, so we can see the car mods + datazap link easily? Thanks!

PS: we made good progress on MHD+ for n55E! Now we need to test the maps and integrate MHD+ with the OTS 2.0x maps.

do you have a link to this post? I wonder what their timeline for N55E MHD+ is.
I was working on my own antilag/launch control, but looks like it might be a wasted effort.

was going to say it's magic, but basic launch control techniques haven't been a secret for many decades now, and can be found by google search. in a nutshell, just holding the revs by cutting fuel injection to the number of cylinders proportional to rpm delta (rev limit - current rpm). to build boost, retard the ignition angle and hijack the boost target. I'm pretty sure that's how MHD and BM3 do it as well for the f series N55s.
I haven't turned the boost on yet, still want to have a smoother rev limit when in D. This style of LC might be better suited for MT cars, for AT, brake boosting and xHP Lc might or might not be better.
I suppose the "magic" is finding all the necessary vars in RAM and flash and figuring out where to hijack them.

Couldn't seem to find the FB post but decided to give it a try tonight and flashed stage 2. Prior to v2.0x on stage 2 or 2+, v1.84 or v1.60, I wasn't making more than 12lbs of boost and couldn't reach target boost at all. Tried boost leak testing, plugged all leaks and upgraded the diverter valve. Was leaning towards my turbo being on it's way out but based on the quick logs from tonight I'm seeing up to 16lbs on my light pulls without seeing anything noticeably bad unless I'm missing something. Some logs on datazap below, would love any feedback or review:

Looks decent at a quick glance but you significantly overshoot target at first. That’s a strange boost issue for sure since it normally can’t hit target

I have screenshotted the posts from the Facebook page for information.

I didn't get the chance to make any changes over the weekend, but will try as soon as I have some spare time.

@yoitsdhani it may be worth trying to find the post and submitting your log to MHD for analysis as well.

Thanks for posting the screenshots, I was looking at the main MHD facebook page and waiting to be added to the enthusiast group. I was in talks with them prior about the beta maps via email so I sent them the logs this morning. I'm getting a misfire now when I'm WOT or close to it after doing some pulls yesterday morning, hopefully it's just plugs/coils since they haven't been done while the car has been in my ownership. Will update once I get around to doing them today or tomorrow but nothing in the logs indicates it would be anything else as far as I can tell.

They just had to wait for me to total my car so they could start working back on their messy maps for E-N55 huh -_-

At least that is good news at last.

Really want to test it. Hopefully they will also release MHD+ until then, really excited for that feature

looks like it's not that far away, maybe a few months. what MHD+ feature people are looking forward to the most? I'd probably want flex fuel the most.

Flex fuel would be sweet! Then I could finally do ethanol because I can't be bothered calculating and mixing at the pump, and needing to find stations with e85.

I guess the only issue here is that it's not possible to do anything above e30 or e40 without PI, so probably will still have to do some ballpark calc and mixing (and wait till gas and e85 mix in both tank compartments). afaik, f series mhd+ is flexfuel is only for OTS maps. Not 100% certain about the n54, but I think they do expose blending tables (ignition angle etc) there to allow for custom flex fuel. Yeah, I'm also kind of new to e85, so not sure what's possible with stock 98g0b and 9E60B hpfps

Yeah, e30 is on the edge for stock new style hpfp. I've got a Dorch stage 2 waiting to go in though, so I'd be okay until I get my bigger turbo on. Hopefully there will be blending tables publicly available for self tuning.

I'm down to test this on my car, but I'm still waiting on my alternator from Germany to come. Pretty bummed that this is all happening just now. Posted in N55 FB Group and am waiting to join MHD Group.

FlexFuel and/or MAP SWITCHING is the most beautiful part of MHD+. These two features alone make MHD supreme and the JB4 pretty much obsolete on modern builds.

Having map switch is perfect for M/T drivers or anyone who wants a pops and bangs map, and then one where they're turned off entirely/lower power, daily level.

yeah, I probably needed to work on the map switch first instead of the LC which is not going to be as effective as it can be with MT with my AT car. That said, I probably shouldn't sit on this stuff myself, and let other people with MTs try it. I probably need to make friends with some local people with 6mt 98G0B (or 9E60B) cars and have them try it. I have an NLS routine idea which they might like as well.

Hi, I just flashed 2.0.0 on my 98G0B 335xi. Will report back after driving and logging. Replaced my alternator and curiously getting a 3847 Generator code even though it's charging correctly. Separate issue.

Update: Drove around a bit late at night. No WOT pulls yet, but feels a lot better than 1.84. Only running 91 octane.

Good feedback. I plan to hook my car up to my battery charger over the weekend and get the update done.

An update from my end: Replaced my plugs and coils, misfire gone. Been driving around on v2.0 and I'm very pleased with how the car feels now vs 1.84 or 1.60. Still don't understand why my car wasn't making more than 12lbs on the previous tunes but it's going up to ~17lbs right now in 4th on stage 2 93oct (catless dp, vrsf chargepipe, gfb dv+, drop in air filter, bosch plugs). Will find some time to do some better logs this weekend and possibly flash back to compare the logs but so far so good! MHD via email said the logs I posted earlier looked good to them as well.

Nice one. I ended up working from home today so threw the v2.0 stage 1 map for 98 RON on my car. It fired up fine after so I will see how it feels compared to the v1.60 stage 1+ 98 RON map I was previously running over the weekend.

The only mods on my car relevant to the engine are an uprated charge pipe and cat back stainless-steel exhaust, but a lot of maintenance has been undertaken in and around the engine recently.

The weather has been terrible round me recently which has meant that I have not been able to do full throttle runs to produce logs. However, I have gotten a feel for some of the differences between v1.60 stage 1+ and v2.0 stage 1 maps. The latter feels smoother on throttle; the v1.60 map felt like it produced a lot of torque around 2.5k rpm whereas the v2.0 map goes smoothly through this rev band.
