Before replacing the alternator/regulator, I'd thoroughly check the IBS. This is what caused the alternator on my E91 to put out over 17 volts intermittently, and was only discovered after throwing two alternators at the problem.

How would I check the IBS before changing the alternator? Definitely don't want to keep dumping unnecessary money into the car. $250 for a battery is painful enough but I knew what I was getting myself into when buying a bmw.

It's the intelligent battery sensor. I believe it's the big thing on top of your battery, and I've heard it can be disconnected by unplugging just one cable. Search the forum and you should find some info on it

How do I go about getting the turbos replaced under warranty? I'm at 77,000 now so I'd love to get that done if possible.

Currently having the exact same electrical issues, christmas tree on dash including airbag, seatbelt, abs, tyre press, engine temp etc aswell as no electrical input for windows or indicator/wiper stalks, radio on steering wheel and random inputs from AC system........ worse thing is i can smell a horrible phosphorus/burning smell..... hoping its just a bad earth, alternator, ibs sensor or voltage reg
