Thud when letting off the gas when in high boost

I recently went stage 1 MHD on my 2010 335i. Without the MHD I can do a WOT pull at 60, let off the gas quickly and everything is normal. On MHD stage 1, I get a thud/clunk when I let off the gas quickly. It is almost like something in the driveline is twisting under the torque and letting off once the torque goes away.

What is the most common cause for this? The motor mounts were changed a few years ago. Diff bushings are new but I used stock bushings rather than M3. Driveshaft guibo or bushing? Could the stock diverter valves cause this?

The car does have an 8 speed swap from a 2016 F30 w/ CANTCU. The dif is a 3.08 from a MT car. Other than that it is stock.

thanks

come back on this problem.

LastGray succeed to remove this throttle lift off massive jerk under high load by installing MHD V2.41 app version.

When i look at "what's new" section into MHD app I can see some interesting informations:

V3.03 "fixed issue with jerkiness when lifting throttle"
V3.09: "further improvement to throttle lift smoothness"

So it seem's that this problem exist for awhile and MHD team take it into account.

So why on MHD V3.20 version we still have it?

Should we try to reverse to V3.09 version and see if it help ?

MHD app version are available here :https://apkpure.com/mhd-flasher-n54/...r.n54/versions

We can see that some version are heavier than others and i don't know why so i'm afraid to try a wrong version....

I just sent an email @ken and MHD:

"Hi guys

On E90 forum we are some to experimente throttle massive jerk when letting off throttle under load.
This problem occurs only with V10 maps.
A member tried to come back to V2.41 app version and succeed to delete this jerk.

When i look at MHD "what's new" map I can read that you already took this problem into account in V3.03 and V3.09 app version.
So why is it still there with V3.20 version?

Can we try to come back to V3.09 version and see if it help?

I'm so happy with MHD+ but i have to use older map version to avoid this problem.

Would like to use V10 map with MHD multimap, did you have a solution wich can help N54 community?

Thanks a lot and have a nice day

Vincent

I picked up an Android so I could load older versions. I am getting an error in XAPK install when I try to install 3.12 "the operation failed because it is fundimentaly incompatible with..."

Try another version like v3.09 for example, some version are heavier than other maybe some are updates that need previous version to be installed where some other versions can be installed from scratch....

Be sure to go back to stock without MHD before trying to load an older version into your DME.

I had no answers from ken or MHD team relating to my email.

I posted on the other thread about this, same issue here. Don't listen to anyone who tells you "it's just engine braking, that's how high torque engines are" that's not true at all.

I don't understand how the version of MHD has anything to do with it though. I thought a map is a map, a V10 map should be the same regardless of what version of the MHD app was used to load it.

It's interesting that nobody from MHD or even the guy who makes their maps is acknowledging it, and that there hasn't been any update to MHD in a while.

Try to send an email @ken and MHD team....
The more we are to speak about this problem with them the fast they will (maybe) take it into account.....

Hi guys

This morning I decided to completely remove MHD V3.20 from my Z4 35is by the "flash back to stock" option into the app.

Then I installed V2.42 with a V10 stage 2 E50 tune.

I never tried this app version because my first MHD installation was in september 2022 and version at this time was already V3.09.

I ran the car only 25kms but everything seem's to be ok and my log are way better than before especially WGDC that stay low and load actual follow load target great where load actual was over the target on V3.20 at high rpm for me and I don't know why....

I felt no throttle jerk when lift off the pedal at an heavy load at all for the moment and that's a good news!!

I loose the multimap option wich was important for me because of blend use but i can't stay with a bad MHD app version.

Will come back after few hundred miles .

When load actual was over load target, were you getting throttle closure? I posted my observation in the other "look at my log" thread where I was looking at old logs and nobody pointed out that I was over boosting and seeing throttle closures.

Using MHD 3.20 and tried V7 and V10 maps. I don't recall any throttle jerk on liftoff with V7 but I didnt keep it on there long enough as I liked V10 better especially lower RPM torque.

Did you flash back to stock using MHD v3.20 and then re-flash using the older version of the APK?

Yes this is what I did, back to stock with V3.20 app then installed V2.42 and flash V10 stage 2 E50.

With V3.20 load actual overpass load target as you can see in this log:

https://datazap.me/u/vadonchez/v10-s...23&zoom=46-141

Now my logs are just near to be perfect:

14%C2%B0c?log=0&data=3-23&zoom=52-158

My Z4 run so smooth now, i'm really happy!! And no problem with throttle massive jerk @ high load for now.

I downgraded to 3.09 with V10 maps and the clunk is gone. Thanks to all who helped me solve this.
