Deactivate TPMS and switch to FTM

My 06 325i and 330i have (had) FTM by default, using the wheel speed sensors. My 07 335i has TPMS and this past week one of the sensor batteries died, giving me intermittent TPMS inactive errors. So I disabled TPMS and switched to FTM.

I found a bunch of general instructions but nothing was specific to the Pre-LCI E93 that I have. What I found is that the E93 RDC RDC module is not easily accessible. It's sandwiched behind the rear seats (similar spot as the EKPM) and not easy to disconnect, so I disconnected the fuse. Many videos online show the fuses but none are for the E93. I pulled the fuse cover in the back of the glovebox which showed #13 for the RDC so I removed that.

Then onto coding. My 335 has no iDrive, so no CCC/CIC to code. Just KOMBI and DSC. I removed $2VB from the VO and default coded DSC and KOMBI, but still got the TPMS error on KOMBI even after several power cycles and letting the car go to sleep.

Then I found this post on the M3 forum which fixed it.

I *didn't* add $265 to the VO (which enables the FTM) however I did make the manual changes which essentially do the same thing:
Code:
KOMBI: RDC_ALIVE
nicht_aktiv
KOMBI: MMI_ENA_RPA_RDC ** Optional if you want FTM enabled **
aktiv
KOMBI: RDC_VERBAUT
nicht_aktiv
KOMBI: DSC_MIT_RPA_CC ** Optional if you want FTM enabled **
aktiv
KOMBI: RDC_DISP_SWITCH
nicht_aktiv
And that got rid of the TPMS inactive error.

There were a few other minor changes in the FSW_PSW.TRC file that I pulled after default coding, I'm guessing these were related to the deactivation of TPMS.

I don't know if FTM is working, though it does show up in KOMBI and I can reset it. I need to go back and add $265 to the VO and default code the DSC module again to ensure it's configured for FTM to work.

Good on ya, this is such a nice change, especially if you don't have a CIC/CCC.
I actually did this on the '09 E91, but TBH don't even know how I pulled it off.
Coding is just magic. Some people have it, others not so much.
