Valvecover ignition ground stud broken inside cylinder head (e90 328i n52)
While replacing the valve cover gasket on my 2011 e90 328i n52 the ignition harness ground stud located between cylinders 5-6 snapped off inside the cylinder head, I tried to remove it with an extractor only for that to break off inside too. I plan on heli coiling it so I can get the car back on the road again. Has anyone ever done this diy before? What size heli coil will I need? What size do I need to drill it out to? What is the thread pitch I will need for the heli coil to fit and the bolt to thread into? Any help is very much appreciated

I think this just got much more difficult with the broken extractor inside. How hard is that extractor that got broken inside? Do you think you can drill on it again? Use a regular drill bit and not a reverse drill bit since the extractors work backwards and drilling on it may give you just enough traction for it to come loose.

Update - I got a heli coil kit and with the use of a dremel tool and diamond bits I am very very slowly grinding out the broken extractor, once I remove the extractor I can drill the bolt out and heli coil the threads to hopefully finish this project
