LCI xenon headlights look amazing on the pre-LCI

I have an m-sport rear bumper. Eventually I'll get the front to match.

It's the last good drivers chassis BMW ever made with it's last good NA. A few tweaks here and there and it can be quite timeless. LCI Msport, some updated headlights, painted trim, maybe a sweet swap from a newer gen
it's impressive how you can modernize a E90 to be very close to 2024 models.

What people consider ''modern'' nowadays ?

- key less > E90 has comfort OEM

- Screen > E90 got CCC/CIC OEM, and aftermarket you can get those fat ass screen

- Android auto car play > Tons of option aftermarket, from cheap to expensive. Easy install.

- digital cluster > aftermarket exist

- surround sound system > logic7 or individual OEM

- Bluetooth > OEM

- pano roof > E91

- good power to merge > N52 is enough

I think if you take a fully loaded E9X and add few aftermarket parts, beside a/c cooled seats, this car is pretty close to 2024 average car !
Impressive to a car that was designed what? in 2004-2005 and produced in 2006. More option available with LCI tho.

I was asked why not buy a newer car and this was my argument. Plus with a few thousand I can do so much more to my car instead of putting it towards a car payment.

also, used E90 are dirt cheap for what it can offer.

Mainly because ;

- Supply high ; there's a ton on the road (thanks to bmw low lease rates back in the days)

- Demand low ; People are scared of used german cars.

and even if you get a clean 1xxk miles E90, it might really be more reliable ( and more fun) than a most newest econo-box (hyundai, nissan, subaru, etc)

I simply drove it and watched the odometer go past 142K miles, it's never been in such good condition and performs well considering the poor Nashville roads and drivers.

Are those plug-n-play? FRM1 vs FRM2? I can do minor coding if needed, but like the look.

Platform is great for a bit of everything. You can have a reliable none turbo e series sedan that can be comfortable, you can make it ride on rails and a fun back road cruiser, you can own the turbo version that will set you back a few bucks but can be an even more fun back road cruiser or a respectable car on the street. MY e82 with turbo and suspension upgrades is SO MUCH FUN on the back roads. My e90 is such a comfortable daily that is also capable of going through some twisties or dragging some cars light to light. There is nothing out there that can check those boxes for the current affordability of these cars.

And I think even as old as they are, they still fit current times. Specially if you have the LCI tails and headlights. Heck even the F series 3 series had halogen lamps including turn signals. It's not until you get to the G series that halogens became outdated.

I've also driven the F series and the e90 feels much more robust. I like it so much better than anything new.

These cars are so great because other than oil leaks and cooling system, the rest of the car is pretty damn robust. So easy to keep going, at least in a non salt climate.

The bonus is that you can have or mod all of the above, or more importantly, not! I love my '06 because it still feels and looks modern (IMO), but doesn't have any screens. Not to mention the third pedal on the floor. Where you gonna' find one of those in a car that isn't a penalty box.

And yeah, the bonus is that I got exactly what I wanted for under $4,000. The E91 was $4,500. What other good looking, fun, modular, well built car is out there for that kind of money?

You forgot one of the biggest things, most people want their cars to drive themselves in order for them to consider it modern. Personally I'm happy my car does not have auto braking or lane keep assist or whatever else.

If you retrofit ACC I guess it's kind of close lol.

right, but those are non-enthusiast, and it's not (yet) standard, nor even in base option package on most cars on the roads.

I think what I like the most about E90, is you can have a quite modern car with a 6 mt !

Bruh, not that it matters, but no winters my ass. That rear subframe is would give Krusty Crabs a run for it money (unless it's from the E91, then pay no mind)

Interesting. FCP now has them available and so does Amazon, ECS claims they are "in transit" and Pelican says it's a special order.

I tried to buy them from my dealership in April and they couldn't get them. Ended up ordering from Bimmerworld. They seem to either have a good stock or lower inventory turn, as they were also the last place to have the Genuine BMW cover.

Did the transfer case motor in my gal's E83 M sport. Helped but now I still have a front wheel speed sensor that was not there before. Grrr. Not sure why it did not show when I scanned it.

Took sensor out and cleaned off the debris aka rust on the magnet and airbag/4x4/abs and yellow brake light are now gone.

Stupid that the sensor trips the airbag light. Put a request to return sensor I ordered and should be here today from FCP they are like BAV used to be for me overnight regular UPS. I do miss drives up to Portsmouth for Lobster and Shipyard Brewery.

Yes. I have old school FRM1 Xenon on my 330 and it was easy.

I don't remember the coding I did, but I definitely disabled auto-leveling and all the bulb checks, and made some coding change to use the inner cornering lights for "pass to flash" so when I pull the left stalk the inner halogen lights come on but when I push that stalk the shutters lower and I get xenon high beams.

I replaced my rear left brake light because it was out. Is it possible to install LED bulbs on this car and if so, is it worth it?
Edit: I just realized that when I installed the bulbs, I removed both of the two bulbs on the left side and replaced both not realizing that one of them is the turn signal. The bulbs I used are these right here:https://www.autozone.com/electrical-...0signal%20bulb
Is the turn signal bulb and brake light bulb on the left taillight the same? The blinker is working and no dash lights.

And so it begins...

Zero drama on the actual removal. Maybe two hours working slowly. I removed the front headrests, moved the seats all the way forward, played with the tilt and dropped the seat backs all the way down to get some good clearance. The rear lower seat cushion was already out to pull the door gaskets, so the headliner went right out the back door with just a little bit of wiggling.

I discovered the M Sport one is missing the rear retaining clip so yanked it from the old one and am gluing it on overnight. Oh, it's also missing the alarm wiring so I'll swap that out as well. Wasn't expecting that job but pretty minor.

Sunroof has been easy so far. Just followed the Lucky Needle's instructions and it's back in place with just a loose fit. Fingers crossed it's easy to center! Will report back with my findings!
