2011 328i e92 no key detected, can’t start
Hello! I am new to the world of these cars and was super excited to get my first bmw: 2011 328i e92.
I am having issues with this car though and would appreciate if anyone had any ideas of what is going on or what to check. The main problem is that the car will not start or attempt to start. all the car does is show a key crossed out and will not do much else. The little screen below the crossed out key does not light up at all showing no information. Certain things do not work such as windows, headlights, horn. The radio will come on for about 20 seconds or so then will shut off. I checked the voltage on the battery and it is around 12.3 I replaced the cr2032 battery in the keyfob (I only have the one fob) Any help at all is greatly appreciated! |

Buy yourself a good fault code reader. Read codes and report back.
Are you sure you are using the right key for the car? Have you ever started the car before? Last edited by GoRomeo; 09-28-2024 at 01:39 AM.. |

Have you tried Insert the entire FOB in the Key/Fob Slot.
Also did it ever start ? Did you check this when you bought it. Did you get more than one key and did you check that it was working at the time . The key might not even be programmed for the car is you bought is as somebody else's mess. If you bought a as is car an hope or revive it you will need diagnostics and to study the functioning of the car . Diagnostics recommended are BMW Standard Tools and ISTA D See coding sub forum here at E90post.com Last edited by ctuna; 09-28-2024 at 03:08 AM.. |
