I had same problem and toook it to the dealer three times
1) trip could diagnose
2) changed the power steering pump- didnt fix the problem
3) changed transfer case and increased idle RPM fix 90% of the problem
I personally think it is design issue where the pump/Hydraulics is underpowered.

Front strut mounts and tie rods. Mine were shot. Changed them when I had the bmw performance suspension kit installed. Issue is now gone...

I am extremely dissapointed that there is no solution for this issue...I made the switch from audi (10 years driving the rings) and I recently bought a cpo 335i msport, at 1st right off the lot it did not do it, 2 weeks into the car and after some well enjoyed spirited driving...this nightmare came up....from what I read on this entire 7 page thread, it bums me out that bmw being as prestigious as they claim, will not fix the issue...I will be looking to trade in for an audi s4, which in my opinion is a more solid overall machine, the 335 is a blast to drive, but it's embarrassing wen I pull out of a crowded parking lot and ppl stare due to the sound and shuttering vibration of the car

I've had the issue with both a 07 z4 m coupe and 09 m6. It seems to be worse when I get better quality tires until the tires wear some. Right now I have a new set of Michelin PS 2s on the m6 and passengers think there is something wrong with the car in parking lots but I can drive it 100 mph and take my hands off the wheel and the alignment is perfect.

I've had the same problem too after upgrading to M3 control arms, but it does go away a little when on a smoother surface, maybe its true that the PS and Rack are under powered depending on what tires you use currently using Michelin PSS, I guess just live with it.....

Interesting this thread is still alive but I finally found my perfect e90 and purchased it on Tuesday and I noticed the car shudder whenever I turned the wheel all the way and was worried. So is this really a normal design flaw by BMW or has someone actually found a fix? (The RPM thing does make sense because when I turn at around 900 RPM there are no problems, but my E53 idles at 700 RPM when turning and there is zero shuddering). It's kinda embarrassing when you have friends and your BMW makes some shudder while parking into a tight spot. And its even weirder because my E34 and E53 have never had this problem. Also my car is a 2009 328i with 75k miles.

My 07 335i did this and now my 13 135is does this too. Seems like there isn't enough power for the power steering system and the engine bogs down. I think increasing the idle speed would certainly help.

Since this seems more like a drivetrain vibration issue, has anyone tried replacing motor mounts to remedy this issue? Is it more prevalent on 6spd cars vs automatic? DMF may factor in when the drivetrain is loaded (clutch out).

Any SMF/solid flywheel guys have the issue? I guess most of them bump their idle to reduce gearbox chatter so they may not be a good control group.

I'm having the same issue in my 09 328xi and I've just sort of learned to live with it but am probably due for a DMF and motor/trans mounts. When I change these out I'll report back. Just throwing ideas out there at this time.

I have also a problem with my active steering.

The whole car vibrates if I'm driving at very low speed and turn the steering wheel. After I accelerate a little bit it's not happening. Also it's not happening if the car stands.

Hello guys. Lets take this thread to 2021.

I just discovered this shuddering, vibrating issue today (august 10 2021) with my E90 318d with 70k Kilometers on it.

like the others before me, it only happens when turning at slow to almost standstill speeds, like when parking or driving out from standstill. at slow speeds i can still feel it while turning, albeit very very slightly and completely disappears as speed increases.

Its unfortunate that since 2009 and 7 pages later, still no concrete fix has been found.

This is an old thread that was revived, but I have some possibly relevant info to share based on my recent observations. My car didn't vibrate at all when turning the wheels, even with one front strut mount that was completely shot and binding, not turning smoothly. Then after I replaced my front struts all the sudden I now get this vibration at low speed when turning (engine idling or low RPM while turning the steering wheel to back out of a parking space.) When I replaced the struts, I used new mounts and bump stops, however I did not replace any of the rubber spring seats. I wonder if this has anything to do with it? Perhaps the springs are slipping slightly on the spring seats causing the vibrations?

I replaced struts on my other car that *was* vibrating while turning the wheels at low speeds, same conditions as my E90 now, and I also reused the rubber spring seats on those struts. I noticed that they were worn, but still reused them. Now I don't get any vibration when turning but instead a single pop from each strut when turning the wheel the first time after it's been sitting. The spring binds a bit when first turning the wheel after it's been parked a while, then snaps into place to catch up with the strut.

I'm wondering if anyone has the vibration while turning after replacing the rubber spring seats? I'm thinking of upgrading my 330i suspension and if I do I'll be sure to buy new rubber, and report back here.

Hello. Guys, honestly, I‘ve been looking all over the internet to find a solution for this problem and all topics just describe it but no one posts the solution.

Can any of you, if you see this, post the solution if you found it already? This should be a valuable resource for the community.

Thanks!

Any updates?

Damn just got my 335i and a month into ownership this issue shows up. Happy to read this thread and find out it's not a car-breaking issue. Probably going to take it to a shop and make sure I have the basic wheel balancing/alignment done to ensure that's not the cause of my issue. Has anyone also experienced a metallic click that coincides with the shuddering issue?

Can't believe this thread is still going in 2023

I have exactly the same problem shown in the video's. Did you end up finding a fix for it?
