Where the Blue/yellow wire go on a E91.
The diversity antenna is not the same as a E90, so the pin 1 is already used. There's already a Blue/yellow wire on the E91 diversity , but at pin2. I splice it? |

I once created a clone key of my own non-CA with a new transponder chip. But I wonder how the CA key is created from CAS2 by DIY? It is the key for me to go for CA retrofit.

I had the same issue. I found a local locksmith that removed the CAS from the car. They then forced a CA key into slot 1. I used a refurbished BMW CA key from ebay. Non BMW keys don't work.

I cloned a CAS from second hand on the bench and added a cloned key into it. I read through the thread from the past especially on your comment of how the CA can be added to the original.
I still have my OEM CAS on my car untouched (non tampered). Do you think I can get an official CA key to my CAS2 (very initial type)? According to your explanation all I should do is insert the new CA key into slot once I get it and VO added to the car. Then do the rest of works. If possible I need a quote for a CA key and wiring kit. thanks. |

Just came back to post my success story and say that dumitru is legit. Kept me updated and was very responsive. I started the process in april and had a CA key by june, and finally installing everything august! The delay was that BMW required FASTA data, in that case you have yo have a dealership run a diagnostic on your car, this will update in their system. Be prepared for that if it is required, but they did not have any issues with the tune on my car.
Upon getting the key and the extra parts needed (detailed in this thread) i can now keep the key in my pocket. It will be a bit costly for all the parts so budget about 2K max since the modules/bmw dealer visit/ door handles/ paint etc add up. |

thanks for the feedback! glad to see another successfull retrofit done the right way with original BMW key, as it should !
for cars that haven t seen the dealer on the past 2 years BMW is now asking for FASTA data update, that means you need to go to any BMW dealer for a simple BMW diagnosis on the car. when i have to do this on a car, i usually go to the dealer for a cheap service operation like brake fluid replacement. this will require BMW diagnosis to be connected to the car and FASTA data will be collected during this process. |

Don't know what it is but mine are sealed up (no hole). I did purchase a handle with a hole like that but it made a sizzling noise inside it (like it was burning/melting inside the handle) so returned it straight away. Hope yours is fine.

thanks for the info. Apparently there was "a nipple" to absorb the shock. Looking at the pic attached, there is a guide on the rubber at the body side. Perhaps it has worn down over time. I need to close it by some glue. Last edited by sono0312; 09-12-2024 at 08:38 PM.. |

I'm learning a lot from the E90 enthusiasts and applying their knowledge to my E89 Z4. I'm especially grateful to Dumitru for providing me with a working key and VIN.
I'm working on the CA wiring harness replacement for the front door. I have removed the door card, sound deadening, speakers, and outside handle. I'm trying to figure out how to remove the wire harness length (+2 plugs) leading to the outside handle and reattach the replacement CA harness. Will I need to remove the window and H-brace, or can I somehow avoid it? |
