Strange Metallic scraping/scratching noise from rear passenger wheel.
Hello everyone! I am new to this forum and not an expert in BMW's at all and only have basic knowledge on these cars.
That being said, there is a strange scratching noise which appeared out of no where around a week ago. It's not any how temperature related as the knows starts right away as soon as the car is driven. The noise gets more persistent at higher speeds so it seems to be a rotational issue. I plan to take it to my mechanic on Thursday next week when ill be flushing my trans fluid and see what he thinks. I don't think it's the diff or CV joint as those issues have slightly different noises from mine. Here is a video recording of the noise for more insight, ingore the clunk that happens a couple of times when going over bumps, that is a heat shield I believe: https://streamable.com/6z7sem Thoughts? Thanks in advance. |

Mine is a little different. I only hear it at low speeds when I have the windows down. Sounds like its originating from the passenger rear but could just as well be something up front. Sometimes it only happens when turning right.
Two mechanics haven't been able to replicate it but I finally got a video. Any insight is appreciated! https://youtube.com/shorts/mi6q7sDNcXM?feature=share Last edited by Cpet; 10-01-2024 at 09:01 PM.. Reason: added video link |
