Is it better to buy bmw genuine if I am replacing just the front pads or get akebono with original bmw rotor. Since I am doing for the first time, I want an “easiest” path, so not planning anything on the rear, and not doing the front rotors.

BMW pads feel great, but I can't stand the amount of dark dust so they're a non-starter for me.
Go for akebono or one of the other well-rated ceramic options, and go through the simple brake-bedding procedure after (Google it).

Also, $1900 *is* criminal (and that's 9-year-old, pre-covid pricing!). But sadly not uncommon.

I don't think there's another area of vehicle service where the charged price is more out of line with how quick and easy the job is.
