2008 335xi replacing rear cv axel

Does the subframe have to come out in order to change the rear cv?

Thanks,

Mitch

No. On a N52 model you have to drop the exhaust to do left axle, don't know on N54 but it's probably to do either axle. Remove the axle nut (impact gun works best), remove 6 bolts on drive flange at diff then pray the axle isn't rusted into the hub. You can try knocking it out with a hammer and brass drift, leave the axle nut on just a few turns to make a well for the drift so it doesn't skate off the end of the axle. If it won't move try pushing it through with a axle puller.
