i've seen several diy dint videos.
they all seem to involve some sort of freezing spray then heating with a hair dryer. Seems to work on small and large dints. not sure i would do it on my car but in the video it seems to work ok. Something to do with the metal reacting and contracting and expanding with the cold then the heat. No doubt someone cleverererer than me can explain it.

A talented guy with a set of PDR tools is well worth $200. Sorry to hear of your damage. Does your friend have as many dings (~15)?

Damn man, I feel your pain. I'm in Long Island too and although I didn't experience the hail yesterday in my town, I did drive through it on the LIE a few days ago. I could hear the hail balls smacking against my windshield and roof/hood/trunk while driving.

Yes my friend does have the same amount of dings and I'll probably just bite the bullet and pay the money to get it fixed. If it were near the end of my lease I would say screw it and just deal with it but I still have another 21 months.

I know how you feel. It hailed here in the Philly suburbs too. Never saw anything like this in my life. I was helpless as I got pelted for about 5 minutes without a break (seemed like an eternity). Estimate just in: $2100 to remove 35 (yes count 'em...35) dings distributed across my hood (the brunt of it), roof and trunk lid. Paintless dent removal is the planned approach (I'm hoping nothing has to be repainted 'cause I'd just as soon avoid that). Fortunately, the damage is covered by my comprehensive with a $250 deductable. But I don't have to tell you how annoying it is to me for this to happen to a 4 month old car!
